They get extra points from me for being a trio. There’s something special about the minimal drumkit+bass+guitar.
Sure, Sonic Youth has oblique links to shoegaze, but come on: 90s indie rock smeared together so much. I’m surprised julie is pegged as shoegaze. They sound more like the Pixies than MBV…
It didn’t seem like shoegaze nearly so much as noise rock to me. Sonic Youth, in particular—but surely I’m failing to notice other band similarities.
Hearing about shoegaze revival and esp “zoomergaze” I picked up on praise for the band julie. Just got around to listening to their album and really liked it. But…
That moment when one realizes that a horror film presented horror, followed forever by denial of the artistic intent.
It’s tubes all the way down

Here's a great documentary on German producer/engineer and musician Conny Plank. Known for his groundbreaking work with German bands in the 70s such as Neu!, Kraftwerk and Cluster:

They said we are in the Information Age. Any imaginations we had as to the quality of information are our problem.
There is now something called "Grokipedia." This is from the entry on me. I have never written a single word on T.S. Eliot in my life.

All practitioners of generative/cybernetic musical forms are in this crisis of terminology right now.
I had to change the title of the 1 hr version from "Generative Horror Soundscape" to what it is now so people didn't mistake "generative music" for "generative ai music". :(

I'm making a #livecoding modular synth in Rust, scripted in Rhai and JIT-compiled with Cranelift!
Still missing state persistence across hot-reloads, and feedback loops, but it's already pretty fun to play with :)

Guillermo del Toro’s _Frankenstein_ is absolutely worth seeing in a theater. Very limited theater screening availability but I saw it today and it was magnificent.
