"Re:Call 1" - The apocrypha of that set's era. Most tracks are radio edits and mono mixes (They were still a thing by then??), so there are a lot of "Hear it once"-type of things. But it also includes "Velvet Goldmine", Bowie's best b-side ever. It boggles the mind why that wasn't a proper single.

Gosh, this month is shaping up to be even more expensive than the last one.

That moment when you're ready to watch some music televison to fall asleep to, but you're catching exactly the hour when they're starting the block of anime with terrible dubs.

Oh, I would have been all over it too! But then again, it probably never was going to be. An album that had all its (wonderful) weirdness frontloaded was never going to sell a lot, especially with all the single choices being odd.

I'm not sure if it's my #1 overall, but it's up there somewhere. I remember how I, back then, kept waiting for the second album in that series, but by the time "Hours" came along, I finally had to accept that it would never come. And that made me a saddragon, sniff.

Outside is such a great one overall, I wouldn't even be able to name a favourite from that one.

Compared to that Santa Monica radio concert, the recording is somewhat noisy, so the performance sounds more rock-ish and raw, but it also makes it hard to hear what everyone else in the band is doing who isn't Bowie, the drummer and the guitarist. Which is a bit of a pity, considering.

"Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture" - Actually released in '83, but they put it into THIS box for chronological reasons. This was the final live show with his then-band, and while it's fine as a live album, its main interest lies in it being a document of music history.

Damn it, even on weekends my time management sucks. Or, dare I say it, ESPECIALLY on weekends? There was so much I wanted to do, where did time goooo

I can see though why it's one of his least-liked works. It does sound as if it was rushed out quickly and there isn't much substance to chow on. But, you know, it's brief and doesn't hurt much, and there's some levity about it. Also, the rendition of Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" is quite fun.

"Pinups" (1973) - The one with the cover versions of '60s pop songs. But a fair share of them are lost to time now, and apart from a few exceptions, I've never heard the originals before, so there's nothing for me to compare them to, and they might just as well pass as Bowie originals.

After over 20 years of looking I finally found this.

Whenever this ident appeared on VHS tapes as a kid I would run to my room crying because I thought the synthetic female choir sounded so beautiful yet filled with sorrow. Sounds like a shitpost but it's totally not.
