On the 80th anniversary of VE Day, it’s been moving to see Halifax communities come together to honour those who gave so much for our freedom. Their sacrifice ended years of suffering and began a journey toward peace - a legacy that still shapes the values we hold dear today. 🇬🇧

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We remember the 6 million Jewish men, women, and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. As survivors grow fewer and antisemitism rises, today is more vital than ever.

This week I was honoured to sign @het.org.uk Book of Commitment to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
We must honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as pay tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who continue to work tirelessly to educate society today.
