Loving all of the maps being produced to see what’s happening!

Labour need to wake up to the fact that a lot of their supporters rightly feel betrayed by some of their actions in the first year. Partly because much of it is not very Labour and partly because they made promises in the Manifesto and then did the opposite immediately. Thats why support evaporated.

I’m not interested in Labour fanboying either they are far from perfect. They’ve lied multiple times about nature protections before chucking wildlife under the bus. There’s absolutely no way I could vote for them at the moment because of it.

They are doing lots right. I just hope they get on track in their second year with smarter thinking from the top and less doing what bad lobbyists convinced them in their first year, e.g. that nature protections limit construction with is a lie, the opposite is true.

Criticism of political parties is only credible with acknowledgement of their successes too - I have a few fundamental issues with the Labour Government over the last year, primarily around their harmful and unnecessary attack on nature protections, but it's important to talk about progress too.
If people still say the Labour government isn't doing anything good, then show them this.

It's what they were working on last week. Just one week.

+ Road Safety Strategy launched

+ Security guarantees for Ukraine

+ Strengthening cyber security

+ Standing up for Greenland

The Labour Government get off to a busy start to the year
Our Labour government have hit the ground running this week, as the Christmas recess ended and Parliament started up again.

It’s a challenge but developers from Europe built much of the platforms in the US. The US just paid them a lot to work for them. A switch from users isn’t necessarily that slow. Good platforms grow rapidly. Eg recently Substack, another US platform.

I think the only way Europe can get out of the current global mess is if it has its own social media platforms aligned to our values. Europe is entirely capable, most USA social networks were built using British and European talent. www.thenewfederalist.eu/made-in-the-...
Made in the EU: The Path to a European Social Media? – The New Federalist
Social media platforms are increasingly becoming more powerful tools of disinformation and manipulation. Despite EU regulations to protect democratic values, some call for establishing a pan-European…

Ban peat: legislation shouldn’t be this hard | Jack Wallington | Nature & Gardens
The UK horticulture industry's growth is currently being harmed by the Labour Government's inaction in implementing the heavily supported peat compost ban (view and sign the latest petition here). Thi...

I’m watching one of our resident Wrens, the one that guards the front of house. They are impossibly cute.

A couple of snow sketches from around our farm. I’m entering 2026 feeling a little more confident with my painting technique. It’s down to lessons with some great watercolour teachers and an insane amount of practice I pushed myself to do last year as a new year resolution.

haha I know, we're the same get all excited but think nothing will happen. All the while knowing there's a chance our roof might actually blow off.
January 9, 2026 at 8:36 AM
I'm so sorry, I'll think of you at this difficult time
January 9, 2026 at 8:35 AM
It's very odd, the named storms often (not always) don't seem too bad and then suddenly on a random day we have a massive storm battering us 😀
January 9, 2026 at 8:35 AM
I’m grateful we’re not snowed in again for the time being but I wish there was less hysteria around weather events
January 9, 2026 at 7:26 AM
No weather bomb where we are in West Yorkshire. The named storms always seem gentler than our normal weather!

😂😭

Definitely! Haha our council have started gritting the town pavements for exactly this reason
January 8, 2026 at 5:03 PM
Cold weather I mean - I'm all for warning people to stay safe, but this exaggeration is very frustrating. People just want everything to be an extreme disaster.
