That "spiral" was set off by Trump's attack on our neighbors in December, and we have felt it every day that his thugs kidnap, assault and murder with impunity. "Distrust and destruction" is held back by the remarkable courage and unity of our community, but we have been living with it for months.
Friends in Minneapolis are very worried about this development. Both in terms of state police's role in arresting protestors and the worry that this could set off the kind of spiral of distrust and destruction that followed George Floyd's murder.
