Grown-up with a car, a job, a library card, an AO3 account, and an increasing number of shelves filled with Kpop albums. I keep my ducks in a row. (She/Her)

Day 3 of eating Korean Fried Chicken, because there is a place here that has a "10 piece" that is like 3 full pounds of chicken, and by god, I am not going to let any of it go to waste.

I've been listening to "Little Bosses Everywhere: How the Pyramid Scheme Shaped America." A lot of the base "MLMs are scams" side is stuff I already knew from other sources, but this one goes deep into "not just scam, but also massive conservative political manipulation schemes" stuff.

Ugh. I have to go backup my Boundless app ebook/audiobook wishlist, because it's going away this week (because of the closure of Baker & Taylor). Like, yeah. Libby is my primary library app with 500+ items on my wishlist, but boundless has another 100.

Kicking off my day-late start to #MusicAdvent with my K-Pop ult guys

Ateez - Answer. It's not the song that first got my attention (that was The Real), but it is the one that scratches my brain the best and will probably forever be my #1 song of theirs.

Playing this game with lead actors is a fool's errand. Your winning move is with a prolific supporting character actor. That just leaves me torn between Keith David and Stephen Tobolowsky.
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

This week I re-read three Good Housekeeping articles from the early 90s that had stuck with me for 30+ years after reading them. And then I started just click around 100+ year old issues out of curiosity. Anyway, public libraries and digital periodical collections are great

Oh, I like this one. 5 animals i've seen in the wild:

1. So many deer
2. Black bears foraging at a landfill
3. Great blue heron
4. A pod of dolphins
5. A very confused gopher who emerged from his burrow in the middle of a John Prine concert in Golden Gate park.

Fox (In garden)
Moose (in garden in front of my windows 🥲)
Squirrel (forest)
Deer (on path in front of my house)

Grey seals (Blakeney)
Red squirrels (Alston and the Highlands)
New Forest Ponies (the New Forest)

Also 5 wild waterfowl I've seen today:

many, many nights I seed the youtube mix with kpop.

Tonight I seeded the mix with a very, very baby Beegees performance of Blowing in the wind. The results have been FASCINATING.

Listening to Predator Nation: Corporate Criminals, Political Corruption, and the Hijacking of America (2012)... and let me tell you this section on enron's "fictitious transactions" doesn't resonate with anything going on in today's economy, nope. nothing at all.

He's in training... (one of these days i'll catch him in the full extended sprint, but it's hard because he largely runs to get attention, so as soon as I turn to watch him, he stops)

I haven't had a career path. I've had a career meander.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Whoops. started a new Google doc tonight. it's a very silly riff on a trope that absolutely cannot be dragged out beyond like mayyyyybe 6k words even if i try to stretch it to its limit. So who knows, there might be a shot of me finishing something. maybe even before the end of the year?

Ranted about this to my father last night:

As long as there is a chance that I'm going to wind up separated from most of my belongings and sleeping on the floor of the airport, I'm not wearing hard pants. I'll be clean, but by god, I will be comfy.
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I seriously can't get over how good the David Byrne show was last night. Like, I've known he puts together concerts that are art... but seeing it in person was something else. I was so afraid I was gonna struggle to enjoy the show, because I've been so stressed. It was perfect.

Mark the date: I have closed the office window and made my first cup of mint tea. Winter (San Francisco version) is here.

Sad to report that The Amusement Park NOT scratching my brain the right way at the moment. It's not bad, and I will probably return to it some other time, possibly not as audio book, but for now it goes back in circulation for someone else. And I go back to the drawing board.
