Merlin James at Sikkema Malloy Jenkins. These paintings feel like accumulations, like a slow quiet snowfall, building up to a world of its own time. Measurement is omnipresent, tension torques in negative spaces, and color is light, dusky and nostalgic for a level of care, attention and simplicity.

Julio Galán at kurimanzotto, the exhibition continues at Luhring Augustine. So imaginative, surreal, and painterly. The paintings say it all - this show made me want to get into a helicopter back to the studio to get lost in my own world. Love these paintings, 10/10.

Deb Kass at Salon 94. Beyond incredible facility which makes shape shifting seem effortless, Sharp splicing of image and history proves a point over and over again about power via juxtaposition and authorship. Edges of once disparate images spark like live wires: a world before and after Kass.

Catherine Murphy’s show at Peter Freeman. One word came to mind, bashfully so: exquisite. The wearing of the world, a formerly heavy head immersed in a gleaming shimmering pillowcase a la Van Gogh’s shimmering fields, piles of life detritus feeling like treasures. Existence is fleeting and magical.

James Miller at Nicelle Beauchene. Looking at these paintings feels like falling and floating in endless depths, oil slicks flatten as reflective color, deep Morris Louis veils tumbling soundlessly through space, unfurling at the speed of light.

Whenever I go to The Barnes Foundation, I find a new moment to admire. Some of my recent views from the permanent collection. My fantasy, you ask? To curate a room a la the Barnes, with objects, paintings, a world. #barnesfoundation

Tonight thinking back to @gmercedescf.bsky.social show at Rachel Uffner late last year. So many inventive material moments, poetic, sexy, introspective and luscious!

Hi that was a coup last night in case no one mentioned that to you. The executive branch seized the power of the purse the Constitution gave to Congress, which is a pretty authoritarian / illegal consolidation of powers move. Time to go yell at your reps, the media, etc.

Always on my mind is @markthomasgibson.bsky.social work. These excerpts are from his show at The Library Company of Philadelphia, a precursor to his show at The Berman Museum. It feels right to revisit these tonight.

Thinking back on the Wanda Gág show @whitney.org not too long ago. Better known for her children’s book ‘Millions of Cats’ - which I loved as a child - she also made works on paper including these incredibly stunning lithos of domestic scenes. #wandagág

White House Budget Office Orders Pause in All Federal Loans and Grants
The full extent of the order was not immediately clear, but the directive sent to government agencies on Monday threatened to paralyze a vast swath of federal programs.
