OK. This is an essay level topic; so... give me day or two (or... 30?) and we'll explore warrantless searches from the viewpoint of a podunk-county cop in detail. I taught "Search and Seizure" 40hr classes to cops; including "Search and Seizure for Drug Cases"; I figure-
Let's start with the oldest trick in the book; cop 1 goes to front door and pounds loudly while yelling "Sheriff's Office, Search Warrant!" while cop 2, at the back door, yells "Come in!"

Or getting around the 11-second rule case law by counting "11, 10, 9, 8, 7" very fast

Aaaaah, they're going to lean on "warrant-less searches" exceptions.

Good. Let's show that bit of bullshit for what it is.
They knew this policy was so unconstitutional that they kept the “legal memo” authorizing this practice hidden, wouldn't let physical copies of it circulate, and a whistleblower had to alert Congress about its very existence.

A friend we both knew through Twitter hooked us up; and first meeting was at Sips Cafe in Normaltown... the whole time I'm thinking "He's so much younger than me; I probably sound like an old bear trying to seduce a twink" and quietly flop-sweating

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Whelp, I just made a drunken insensitive post that pissed off someone I respect (pissed off for good reasons); so I’m just gonna STFU for a while and reflect.

You are correct. Mea culpa. I will do better.
There’s nothing clever about a comment like that in response to someone imprisoned for months in a camp and seeing other detainees murdered.

Age verification? I hated it when one of my friends had an 8, 9, or 0 in their phone number; because it took so long to dial

The time I pepper sprayed myself:

Amongst the hats I wore as departmental training officer was armorer, to include TASERs and OC spray. When the sprays reached their expiration dates or were emptied, I'd issue a new one and save the older ones that were still full and still had aerosol- 1/5

ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

On the superiority of water as the primary decontaminant for tear gas and peppery spray on skin and eyes.

To make it clear to people, this is a thread. Some of you are not clear on the concept. I will reply this with another post and mark it with a number in (x). And so forth. (1)

And at one time (although they have divested themselves of most of the products, after the OxyContin lawsuits got into full swing (no, not Purdue), we had pretty much every drug with a legit purpose or the pre-cursors in our vaults. Poppy straw from farms in Australia, amphetamine salts, ketamine...
Pharma plant which routinely had millions of dollars worth of controlled substances in vaults...

...but honestly, no one but an idiot would try and rob the vaults; the lowest risk was hijacking the trucks in transit.

And security through obscurity, everyone thought we just made band-aids.
