Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

"Who Goes Nazi?" by Dorothy Thompson, Harper's, August 1941. Give it a read, play the game, see if you recognize anyone you know today. Sadly, it's going to matter. Brilliant, uncanny, timeless. Oh, and btw, RESIST like your life depends on it, bc it might. harpers.org/archive/1941...

Look I don't care what the real reason for these guys backing up was. Right now what millions are seeing is a bunch of armed soldiers retreating from a guy doing pelvic thrusts at them in a frog costume.

Speaking of writing advice, I feel like everything I've been thinking and talking about over the past few days can be boiled down to this.

Go ahead and write the weird shit. Because (waves hands around at everything) at this point, why the fuck not?

Happy Birthday to the most beautiful woman in cinematic history, Laura Gemser!

To honor Laura, I edited this tribute video, set to her song "Crazy Eyes (And We'll Love Again)".

While doing research on ancient languages for a novel I'm working on I discovered Dr. Martin Worthington at Cambridge University. After years of study, he's come up with an approximation of Akkadian. You can listen to The Epic of Gilgamesh here:

Hear The Epic of Gilgamesh Read in the Original Akkadian and Enjoy the Sounds of Mesopotamia
This clip gives you a taste of what Gilgamesh, one of the earliest known works of literature, sounds like in its mother tongue, Akkadian.

A photo of a cat in a little superhero costume with the caption, "If you're feeling depressed or overwhelmed today, I just want you to know that David Dastmalchian adopted a stray cat that approached him during the Suicide Squad shoot in Panama. Then the costume designer made her a little Polka dot Man suit."

I'd take a PoI book over a so-called good book any day.

Daylight is starting to fade, the weather is turning cooler (maybe), which means it's a great time to curl up with a good book.

Or one of ours!

Have you met John Frenzi yet? He's the man the Mafia couldn't kill, and he's unleashed in book 1, The Mafia Massacre!

Remember to fight back against AI art:

-Write stories, even if no-one else reads them

-Make up songs and sing them to your pets.

-Paint, draw, doodle.

-Teach your dad a Tik-Tok dance.

Who cares if it's good or bad, just fucking do it.

The most common error I see as a book editor is incorrectly punctuated dialogue.

NO: “Nice to meet you.” She said.
YES: “Nice to meet you,” she said.

NO: “Likewise.” The editor said.
YES: “Likewise,” the editor said.

NO: She smiled, “Hi."
YES: She smiled. “Hi.”

Obviously, this is loser shit, but I think AI has really cemented itself as the visual language of fascism. It's anti-human, flattened, uninteresting, and cheap. It's like looking at a Potemkin Village and thinking that's the same as architecture.

@atomicpulp.bsky.social Hi, you probably don't remember me, but many years ago you emailed me a PDF of one of your BLONDE JUSTICE comics. It was an action of kindness I've never forgotten. Just wanted to thank you.
