Today, I joined with @mayorjacobfrey.bsky.social & Mayor Her to announce a joint lawsuit to end the unlawful and unprecedented surge of ICE agents in Minnesota.

People are being racially profiled, harassed, terrorized, and assaulted.

It has to stop.

The unlawful deployment of thousands of armed, masked, and poorly trained federal agents is hurting Minnesota. This federal invasion of the Twin Cities has to stop, so today I am suing DHS to bring it to an end.

@keithellison.bsky.social is Minnesota’s Lawyer.

He’s taken on the Trump administration’s chaos before and won. I’m grateful he’s taking on this fight, when we need it most.

ICE. OUT. NOW.
Keith Ellison: "These poorly trained, aggressive, and armed agents of the federal state have terrorized Minnesota with widespread unlawful conduct. They're making unconstitutional arrests and using excessive force ... this has to stop."

Ellison: "Enforcing federal immigration law and fighting fraud are just pretexts for this surge. The real reason is no secret -- Donald Trump and his administration have been targeting people, cities, and states that don't agree with them politically."

AG Ellison: I don't think that Donald Trump cares about ICE agents or border agents at all.

I don't think he cares about them.
I don't think he cares about their family.
I don't think he cares at all.

Big Oil spent nearly $100M to get Trump elected in 2024.

Now Trump is returning the favor, giving them advance notice of his Venezuela attack and inviting them to the White House to discuss how they will divvy up control of the country's oil.

Oligarchy in action.

Blocking state access only deepens public distrust and undermines this investigation. Minnesota deserves transparency. Renee deserves justice.

What we are seeing now is an attempt to justify Renee Good’s killing by degrading her character and flooding the public with rhetoric meant to make her death seem acceptable.

That is untrue. It is cruel. It is unnecessary. And it is shameful. We will not accept lies in place of accountability.
Keith Ellison: "They're simply trying to justify her killing. They're trying to convince the public through their rhetoric that it's okay that she's dead. And that is unacceptable and it's untrue. It's also cruel and completely unnecessary. This is a mother of three. This is someone's wife ... "

Today at the vigil for Renee Good, neighbors and strangers alike stood together in peace and love, grieving a life lost far too soon.

We honor Renee by caring for one another and by continuing the work to ensure accountability and justice.

Nothing will keep me from fighting for Minnesotans. Trump's cruelty will not go unchecked here.
Great news: we have secured a temporary pause to Trump’s latest assault on the most vulnerable Minnesota families.

My team and I will be in court working to permanently block Trump’s illegal and deeply cruel actions.

The shootings this week in both Minneapolis and Portland highlight the need for public officials who fight for truth and justice.

As ICE agents run rampant in the streets, we're thankful for AGs @keithellison.bsky.social & @danrayfield.bsky.social, who are meeting the moment and not looking away.

“Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled... her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.”

Please take a moment to read Becca Good's words and hear about the kind, loving person her wife, Renee, was to everyone who knew her.

I appreciate everyone who braved the cold last night to honor her at the candlelight vigil. As we seek justice for her, let’s continue to honor her memory and example and hold her, her children, wife, and loved ones, and the communities and city she loved in our thoughts and hearts.
January 9, 2026 at 12:05 AM
She loved to sing. She loved her children. And she loved her community enough to stand up for its most vulnerable members.

A shocking act of violence took Renee from us too soon.
January 9, 2026 at 12:05 AM
That’s who our neighbor Renee was. And yet now, officials at the highest levels of our national government have launched a despicable campaign to vilify her and gaslight us into believing she was anyone other than the loving person her neighbors and family knew her to be.
January 9, 2026 at 12:05 AM
Renee was a wife and mother whose family now has to find a way to carry on without her. She was a poet with words left to share that we won’t get to hear. She was a kind, caring member of her community — a neighbor who believed in protecting her neighbors.
January 9, 2026 at 12:05 AM
I can’t stop thinking about Renee Nicole Good. Whether we knew her or not, and I did not have the honor, she was our neighbor.
