I write and talk about the NBA, especially the salary cap, CBA and roster construction stuff. I do these things for Spotrac, NBA Front Office Show and The Basketball Bulletin. Any nonsense you see here is from me, not my employers.
I continue to believe that fouling up by three at the end of the game is the smart play, and I HATE it.
I wish the league would make it always 3 shots in that situation. It is more entertaining to watch someone shot a last second 3 to tie, then the free throw parade we get in these situations

Great win for the Celtics. One of the best of the year, so far, if not the best.

Pistons are for real. That team is really, really tough. Could use one more shooter to open up the floor.

Good block outs by the Celtics and a HUGE rebound by Payton Pritchard on the crash.
November 27, 2025 at 12:46 AM
If you call it when Josh Minott made contact, it's two shots. If the foul call was when Cade Cunningham picked it up, then it's three shots.

Tough call. Wasn't aware that was a reviewable thing either.

Great defense by Jordan Walsh and then perfect help by Derrick White. Great team defense against Cade Cunningham to force the turnover.
November 27, 2025 at 12:33 AM
21 offensive rebounds for the Pistons tonight.

37.5% offensive rebound rate.

That's kept Detroit around all game long.
November 27, 2025 at 12:32 AM
Derrick White back?
November 27, 2025 at 12:30 AM
Celtics are closing with Jordan Walsh at the five and Walsh is making plays.

Baylor Scheierman also out there alongside the usual closers of Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.
November 27, 2025 at 12:26 AM
Jaylen Brown came back in with just over eight minutes to play and with four fouls. Celtics will need him to go the rest of the way to have a shot to win here tonight.

We got an eight-second violation, offensive three-second call AND a carry call in this Celtics-Pistons game.

We're only a lane violation on a free throw and a backcourt call away from Officiating BINGO!
November 27, 2025 at 12:12 AM
Love the energy and effort Josh Minott brings every game. He's an addition that should stick beyond this gap year.
November 27, 2025 at 12:09 AM
Good to see Derrick White getting it going. Big third quarter for him. Celtics are battling. Pistons trying to keep the streak going. Should be a fun fourth quarter!
November 27, 2025 at 12:02 AM
Big-time block by Amari Williams. That was perfectly timed. He's had a couple of nice blocks today.
November 26, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Cade Cunningham is still getting his, because he's awesome, but Jordan Walsh is making him work.

Walsh's improvement as an on-ball defender has been a real bright spot for Boston in the early part of the season.
November 26, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Cade Cunningham made a massive improvement from floater range last season. This season, he's slipped back down some. He's got such good touch, that it's a bit surprising he doesn't shoot better on those shots. Not a huge deal, but an area Cunningham can certainly improve on.
November 26, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Celtics initial-shot defense continues to be really good. They just can't finish possessions with enough rebounds. 27th in defensive rebound rate coming in and gave up 11 offensive boards in the first half.

A personnel change is all that's fixing this. No answers on the roster.
November 26, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Ausar's shot form looked cleaner on the 40-foot pullup buzzer-beater than on most of his jumpers and he drained it.

Fun first half in Boston!
November 26, 2025 at 11:18 PM
When you pick up your dribble against the Pistons, you better have a plan for what's next. They lock up on- and off-ball as soon as the live-dribble ends.
November 26, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Really good minutes from Baylor Scheierman. He's starting to play a lot more confidently on offense. He's hanging in there on defense too. Encouraging for Scheierman and the Celtics.
November 26, 2025 at 10:49 PM
Amari Williams was the first center off the bench for Boston tonight. Luka Garza started in place of Neemias Queta, then Williams got in before Chris Boucher or Xavier Tillman Sr.

Good chance for the rookie two-way center Williams to make an impression tonight.

It wasn't a good game for Creighton yesterday, but Hudson Greer played well again. Never understood why they were going to redshirt him. I saw him play quite a bit at Montverde Academy and Greer can play. Glad Creighton is letting him run now.
November 26, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Not gonna lie... I didn't see CJ McCollum dropping 46 points on 17-of-25 overall shooting and 10-of-13 from three happening this season.
November 26, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Ummmm...Hawks?
November 26, 2025 at 12:35 AM
I thought Kel'el Ware would be an ok rebounder, but figured most of his value would be as a stretch big who can also block shots.

He's become very good rebounder very quickly. And he's got the nice jumper and shot-blocking too. Really good player.
