It is really nice getting emails from students i've taught, or who know others i'm supervising, asking me to supervise their 3rd year and MA dissertations at both UoM and LJMU.

For various reasons I appear to have allowed my work life balance to be very poor for a bit. However, the only times I make sure to have time off is when Liverpool are playing. And this is how I am repaid!

To add to my anger at HE and its total disregard of working people - my current job path is full time lecturer for this semester ar JMU then TA for 5 hours a week next semester at UoM. The effort nowhere near matches the outcome.

Got students unable to come to class because the loan was late and they can't afford the train to get to uni.
Higher education in England is designed with only middle to upper class students in mind. The lack of suitable provision for working class students is appalling.

I admit it's not a concern with the public so much but I have to say my view has long been that they solve all sorts of problems from a democracy POV too. Like a well functioning universal ID card system can basically makes the need for an electoral register obsolete. It deals with voter ID...

Many countries have IDs, and have done for a long time without issue. UK though seems to piss itself with faux rage whenever anyone mentions anything relating to them.
Should have been introduced to tackle disenfranchisement and address electoral fraud years ago.

It is because voters associate anti-racism with Labour that Labour has a central responsibility to uphold anti-racism norms. Shirking that responsibility erodes those norms. It is a choice with consequences.
