Pleased to meet with Justice Secretary David Lammy this week to discuss the legacy of the 2017 Lammy Review, ongoing concerns around joint enterprise & the impact recent skilled worker visa changes are having on prison officers at HMP Liverpool.

Important conversations that must lead to action.

“Without pay that reflects the realities of the job, the NHS will continue to bleed talent and lose experience it cannot replace.”

Great piece in @tribunemagazine.bsky.social which emphasises exactly why I was honoured to join the British Medical Association picket line at the Royal last week ✊🏽

We’ve joined 100+ others in calling for the government to fully scrap the two-child limit. Every child deserves the best start in life. By fully scrapping the two-child limit the government can deliver a decisive shift in children’s opportunities, and in the UK's potential.

The multi-millionaire deputy leader of Reform wants to raid the pensions of firefighters and other workers.

Scrapping defined benefit pensions would be an attack on all workers. The FBU will resist any attempt to cut the pensions that firefighters have already paid into.

Protest is fundamental to democracy - it must be protected.

The government should be safeguarding our right to protest, not eroding it with more draconian powers.

Our council tax system is broken, unjust & based on outdated 1991 property values.

In Liverpool Riverside, families pay up to 3x more of their home’s value in council tax than those in the wealthiest areas. It’s time for a fairer system.

Our right to protest is under attack. If Mandela, Gandhi or Fawcett took to the streets today, they could be jailed.

We must defend the right to protest – it’s how we’ve achieved justice & progress in Britain. A chilling sign of our times.
