"Paté says luxury and celebration to me. It’s fussy and fiddly and requires planning and intent. It’s something I enjoy not just making but planning for as well. Not just for the holidays but for any gathering of friends to enjoy time together."

As many of us begin Christmas meal prep, allow me to share the advice that my ER nurse sister puts in the chat every year:

“Who’s he?” she asks.

“Him?” her father replies “Oh, he’s the Grinch.”

She takes another look at him and then slowly turns her head to look at me and asks cautiously “Is that true?”

“I’m afraid so.” I say.

Another art project that I’ve been wanting to try. Using a grid to draw from a source. This is going to take a while but 20 minutes into this so far and I can feel my brain calming.

Coworker Bribery for my team tomorrow. Cinnamon sweet rolls with crystallized ginger and pecans. Still trying to get the hang of this video thing. Like the part where you film the whole process instead of remembering after you’ve pulled them out of the oven.

I had intended to spend a rainy night reading on the couch but I sat down , opened my book and immediately fell asleep. I slept for about an hour. It was the best sleep I’ve had in weeks.

Ugly pic but accurate. Had some turkey in the freezer leftover from Thanksgiving and a couple of apples on the counter so I made stew. Had some buckwheat flour in the pantry and and originally considered pancakes but settled on waffles instead. Good easy dinner for a chilly night to

If you have little kids: this movie is one of my holiday faves because it's beautiful and human and has a gorgeous soundtrack and almost no dialog. Great for a pre-bedtime cuddle viewing.

Took a robot taxi home from a party last night. This is my fifth or sixth time in one, so I’m pretty familiar with how it works but it still amazes me.

I had to do some work in the garage after work tonight. Took less time than I anticipated so I took the change to tet my lights that haven't been turned on in a few years. Tomorrow is my holiday card photo. Would have done it tonight but the camera batteries were dead.

Made a big pot of soup with Yellow Eyes Beans from @ranchogordo.bsky.social with Meyer lemon sage and walnut salsa verde. Cornbread from the Settlement Cookbook. Brown rice to round it out. Warming and filling up on a cold Sunday.
