Disregarding that at that point putin was already fully preparing for war after he got NS2 from merkel

Putin was preparing for a full scale war with Ukraine since 2021. So these quotes just leave an impression of merkel being completely clueless.

Also she pushed NS2 through signaling that Germany very much wants to do business with russia directly without input from Baltics, Poland, etc.
