Hello to those who found me here. I am a particle physicist at CERN working on the @lhcb.bsky.social experiment and on future accelerators. In particular I worry about sustainability.

15000 antihydrogen atoms are a fantastic achievement!
But it's still far from Angels & Demons. If you were to annihilate all that antimatter you you'd get a few micro joules out. That's much less than what your phone needs for a second of being idle.

LHCb doing strange physics! We even measure the CKM element Vus that couples strange and up quarks. The measurement is difficult at LHCb as a Λ baryon decaying to a proton and a muon looks very much like the dominant Λ to proton pion mode where the pion then decays to a muon. ⚛️
Branching fraction measurement of the Λ→pμν decay arxiv.org/abs/2511.15681 - This result improves the precision of the branching fraction measurement by a factor of two compared to the previous best measurement and sets a more stringent bound on lepton flavour universality in s→u quark transitions.

LHCb rocking kaon physics again.
Search for K⁰→π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻ decays at LHCb arxiv.org/abs/2511.02619 - Upper limits are set for the first time on the branching fractions B(K⁰s→π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻)<1.4×10⁻⁹ and B(K⁰L→π⁺π⁻μ⁺μ⁻)<6.6×10⁻⁷, at the 90% confidence level.
