For funsies:

TIL Jez from Doves played gtr for Saint Etienne on the records of theirs I love the most (Good Humor, Sound of Water), right before/during the Doves heyday. I knew they were a kind of backing band for Badly Drawn Boy after sub sub, before Doves but this is a real well I'll be! kinda deal.

TIL: bikes weren't allowed on BART escalators :)

(I think I mostly carried mine up the stairs at my N. Berkeley stop because I thought it looked BADASS slinging it over my shoulder)
Every time I see someone with a bike on a BART escalator, it makes me smile - especially this rider prepared for rain.

Not all policy making is so visible & tangible.

Two years after we started allowing bikes on escalators, it’s worked perfectly. I haven’t heard complaints or of any big accidents.

I enjoyed the two guys going max effort passing me today on a climb, blowing up, then getting gently passed by me doing my z2 nonsense. Zwift is for lovers!

There's an interview with BRMC where they talk about telling the dept of homeland security to go fuck themselves when they used their song, and it's pretty interesting that this rock band quickly learned something that the entire opposition party can't seem to figure out

Stalking horse for Ford to outlaw transit signal priority
Holyday asks Chow what she'll do if "tinkering with the lights" to offer transit signal priority creates "public backlash"?

"I wouldn't call giving public transit that holds hundreds of people 'tinkering'," says Chow. "There's no reason that 3-4 cars making left-turns should have priority."

I have not confirmed this, but I’d bet the Spurs are the first team in the history of the NBA Cup to be blasting Weezer in the pregame locker room.

Attention northern word nerds: The very first Canadian Word of the Year is MAPLEWASHING!
And the results are in! After carefully reviewing the results of a national poll the Board of Directors of the Society for Canadian English (SCE) has determined that this year’s Canadian Word of the Year (CWOTY), the first of its kind, will be “maplewashing.”
