OMG It's ME! I will forever be grateful to those that listen to the hidden workers story.

Two decades later, the label of AI still hides a world of interconnected workers in the U.S. and abroad who keep the magic going. That's why ee collaborated with @alphabetworkersunion.org to investigate what conditions they’re working under.

This is what we found: techequity.us/2025/09/30/g...

Despite making critical contributions to the booming AI industry, data workers often report that they aren’t treated like the skilled, valuable workers that they are.

So, from @alphabetworkersunion.org to @turkopticon.bsky.social, data workers are organizing for better pay and working conditions.

Microsoft cancels Israeli spy unit access after tech worker revolt
In a stunning and massive development, tech giant Microsoft has announced that it is terminating parts of the Israeli military’s access to proprietary technology that it was using to conduct mass surveillance and targeting of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. “Microsoft told Israeli officials late last week that Unit 8200, the military’s elite spy agency, had violated the company’s terms of service by storing the vast trove of surveillance data in its Azure cloud platform,” the Guardian reports. “The termination is the first known case of a US technology company withdrawing services provided to the Israeli military since the beginning of its war on Gaza.” This major development would not have happened without the joint-investigative work of reporters at The Guardian, +972 Magazine, and Local Call exposing Microsoft’s complicity with Unit 8200’s mass-surveillance campaign, but it also would not have happened without the disruptive protests by tech workers within Microsoft. In this panel discussion, we speak with three fired Microsoft tech workers and members of the “No Azure for Apartheid” campaign—Nisreen Jaradat, Julius Shan, and Anna Hattle—about the role workers have played in pressuring Microsoft to end its complicity in Israel’s war crimes. NEW RESEARCH ALERT 🚨

Tech giants are making massive investments in generative AI, integrating it into their existing products and selling access to the foundational models to others.

But all that money and power isn’t making its way down to the people who make AI actually work: data workers.

Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered virtually all of the U.S. military’s top commanders worldwide to gather on short notice — and without a stated reason — at a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week.

1. My newest Anti-Trans Legal Risk Map is here.

Risk has increased sharply for youth in many states as clinics shutter under Trump and state AGs refuse to enforce civil rights laws.

For adults, some increases in risk.

Nationwide risk remains extreme.

The Trump regime is lying to create a police state and consolidate power over the country.

Trump’s mobilization of the National Guard, ICE, and FBI in D.C. has nothing to do with safety.

In fact, violent crime has hit a 30-year low in D.C.

It’s plain and simple—this is what authoritarians do.

The Trump regime is attempting to instill fear, create propaganda, and consolidate control.
