Evidence: Swearing predicts higher rates of honesty and integrity. It signals a willingness to prize candor over courtesy.

A little profanity can show that you're being real and you do give a damn.

Trauma conditioning is going to try to tell you every shift in their vibe is about you-- specifically, how they're unhappy w/ or about to abandon you. That's hypervigilance & the "fawn" response trying to steer the car.

My adoptive parents said they "loved me like their own" which meant they would have largely treated their own child as an object to be ignored except when occasionally being show off to other people...

#adoption made my identity into someone else’s vanity project. i was made to understand that the truth is unknowable, that i have no right to it, and that anyway the truth is what we and the lawyers and the clerks say it is. like every other adoptee, i am expected to be thankful for this.

Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.

If an adoptee is afraid to look for their family because it may hurt their adoptive parents then they are in a controlling relationship - not a loving one. If the adoptive parents love the child they care about them knowing their family, heritage, and identity and never hide it.

So many stories from the Baby Scoop Era of fathers telling their young pregnant daughters not to bring their shame home. But those babies grew up and thanks to DNA we are on the family tree and we are reassigning the shame to them for not protecting their daughter and grandchild. #babyscoopera
