My conspiracy theory is that Google created engineering product managers to accelerate the capitalist alienation of software engineers as a class.

Think about it, product managers cut off engineers from the people we serve, atomize our labor, and intermediate between workers.

Business plan? Sure pal, I've got your business plan right here:

1️⃣ Create ✨️embodied✨️ AGI
2️⃣ ???
3️⃣ Profit

Since we are creating embodied AI our TAM is effectively infinite, which means our potential upside is also infinite.

Now give me my $200M seed round.

Let's bully San Francisco mayor Daniel Lurie into letting us hold wild sex parties in the abandoned Eureka Valley Muni station again.

@sfmta.bsky.social you game?

What the hell is going on with domestic air travel prices.

Gas is cheap, and these prices sure do feel like algorithmic price fixing and not "demand."

I'm sorry, but the @inaturalist.bsky.social year end review is way cooler than Spotify wrapped.

I got over 600 new species this year.

They certainly don't look like something that would grow in California let alone earth.

Security Flaw Turns Unitree Robots Into Botnets
Can your robot be hacked? A new vulnerability in Unitree robots could turn them into a botnet army. Are we taking robot security seriously enough?

Fun Bay Area nature fact: there is a species of cricket that only lives on the Farallon islands!

It is its own genus and was only described in 1972.

I picked up a civil defense geiger counter kit from the Alameda Antiques market for $100.

What's cool about it is that it is vintage @oshwassociation.bsky.social hardware. Every piece includes a BOM, schematic, and board design in the manual.

I came into this article with low opinions on surrogacy and venture capitalists and this article supports those opinions.

Anyway, this story is tragic and WILD.

Surrogate pregnancies are increasingly popular in tech circles, and the practice is expected to explode globally in the coming decade. It’s also shockingly unregulated. This is a story about what happens when it goes horribly wrong.
The Baby Died. Whose Fault Is It?
When her son died in utero, a venture capitalist went to extremes to punish her surrogate.

Can confirm.

Everyone is spamming job postings and despite what everyone claims AI review tools don't work.

We're back to square one: referrals and pressing the flesh.
I posted a position on my team yesterday and it already has over a thousand applications. I can’t even list them in workday without keyword filtering out 80% of them.

The job market is fucked right now and the recruiting process is fucked right along with it.
