Blake Heller and I wrote an editorial about Trump’s proposals to end federal funding for adult education- whatever comes for FY 2026, it’s worth keeping an eye on this often overlooked part of our education sector @blakeheller.bsky.social

Now Is Not the Time to Zero Out Adult Education
Mumma and Heller: Adult education works, especially for English learners. Congress should reject Trump’s proposed cuts.

Jim Ryan was dean when I was a PhD student at HGSE. I hold him in very high esteem. As a small anecdote, when I faced some serious medical issues as a first year student, he kindly wrote me a personal note expressing support and well wishes. I am really saddened by this.

"Combined with two earlier rounds of NSF cuts at in April, education now accounts for more than half of the nearly 1,400 terminated grants and almost three-quarters of their $1 billion value."

Big day in school choice…

I have always found it an unambiguous/fundamental part of the definition of charters that they are traditional public schools operated by private organizations.

As someone who has worked for a traditional public school district and charter network, I’m watching closely…
