Now @rideact.bsky.social has two apps on the Paly store. Unclear why they released a new app vs updated the current (which is plagued with issues on Android).

Ok:
1) vibe coding is pretty fun & ridiculous - you make unmaintainable slop super fast
2) @val.town is super fun for making quick & dirty DIY backends
3) @rideact.bsky.social desperately needs to efficiently cache their GTFS/RT data

The seating requirement on the MCI Transbay AC Transit buses is truly a nightmare. Overfull buses Tues - Thurs with riders negotiating over seats while other riders are being outright rejected+ no backup bus available. I'm trying to commute via transit with a 1 y/o & the unreliability is killing me.

Transit service levels in downtown Oakland on a Friday at rush hour. Maddening levels of dysfunction.

Since 2021, electric suburban "TER" trains run every 10 minutes all day (every 20 minutes Sundays) 36km from Diamniadio to Dakar. This amounts to better service than any suburban/commuter rail line in the US.

Rush hour on a Friday and this is the bus service level in downtown Oakland connecting around the lake and to popular Fri evening destinations (Grand Lake). Totally useless.

This. The way that dems can often tokenize minorities into a generic categorical "diversity" is a subversive form of racism in itself and makes your typical Ezra Klein-tier establishment-dem podcast guest all the more off-putting.
Democrats need to understand that groups within groups exist now and there isn't any one singular minority or non-white prominent opinion on issues pertaining to these groups.they also get their news from different places as follows general education polarization

Submitted my proposal for a talk on identifying contiguous segments for categorizing turns on normalized OSM graph. Looking forward to SOTMUS (& glad I found the Bluesky account for SOTMUS)!

What fresh hell is this? In the Oakland budget survey being sent out - paving and safety upgrades were funded through Measure U - why are they being sent to the choppy block when the general budget is in turmoil?

Timely given this was my treatment for using the bus in downtown Oakland this evening.
It's clear Council lacks a strong grasp of what the day to day experience of transit dependency is like - something that significantly impacts the daily lived experience of residents they purport to advocate for.

Excellent reporting like this is my annual reminder to also donate to Oaklandside - we are lucky to have such on the ground reporting.
AC Transit director Sarah Syed alleges other directors agreed to a fraudulent “sweetheart” deal with outgoing GM Michael Hursh to keep him on at his same salary (~$500k with benefits), for an advisor role without work time specifications. New:

Oakland's budget and bond-issuing decisions continue to affect infrastructure projects ready to be implemented. The latest one is the postponement of the cycle track on Lakeshore Avenue, which was fast-tracked after a 4-year-old's death. New:

Oakland promised a bike lane after a child’s death. Now budget problems are delaying the project
The Lakeshore Avenue cycle track was expedited last year after a 4-year old was killed riding a bike with her father.

Appreciate seeing the bump in #ACTransit TransBay bus service to address crowding issues on some routes. Hoping we can keep adding more service to other lines as well. Ease of use will increase ridership, too.

Appreciate the highlighting of the fact that businesses owners are not a monolith and many readily support right sizing roads for ped and cyclist safety.

Naive question: is there a way to have both? Like, is it feasible to have both track widths available, overlapping, for this tunnel?
I assume no because std gauge is too close in width to broad (3.5" difference-ish), but... maybe yes?
