My dear listeners and friends,

After four years and over forty episodes, I believe my podcasting days are over. I’ve loved making my podcast, it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. It has allowed me to dig into history as I did when I was younger.
Thank you, Seth. And yes, count me in for future episodes with you, if you’ll have me 😉

Keep listening to history podcasts, keep reading about history. History gives nuance to our existence and allows us to be better persons, I firmly believe that.

Au revoir !

I will keep the podcast feed online and the website as well, so that my work remains accessible. I just won’t be releasing new episodes.

To everyone who has ever listened to the show or reached out to me, a huge merci! I wish you all the best.

I have also had the chance to meet and interview truly wonderful people. I am extremely grateful for that.

I have simply reached a time in my life where I have other aspirations and priorities. If producing the show feels like it’s becoming a chore, then it’s time to stop.

Excellent discussion on the Hundred Years War, the writing of history and its importance in our lives. Great stuff.
New Tides of History: I talk with Professor Michael Livingston (@michaellivingston.com) about how the Hundred Years War actually lasted for 200 years, why we focus too much on England, and what this long medieval war tells us about our world today. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Truly enjoyed that discussion, both on the history of these conflicts and on how to write history. Excellent, really.

Quoting Victor Hugo, great!

The subject of our next episode made two coup attempts, was incarcerated and escaped by disguising himself as a mason, then came back to his country, was elected president and finally made another coup against his own regime to seize more power.

Any guesses as to who I am referring to? #History #Fr

I disagree with Mr. Sarkozy on politics.
That doesn’t mean I should silence him.
That doesn’t mean his research on Napoléon is invalid.
That doesn’t mean we can’t talk about French history together.

I believe a lot of the current political tension in France, like in other places, comes from something simple and painful.
We no longer know how to talk to each other.
We’ve forgotten how to disagree without turning each other into enemies.

Political bigotry is the enemy here.
I didn’t create this podcast to help it grow stronger.
I created it to encourage dialogue.
To share culture.
To promote understanding.
October 11, 2025 at 1:51 PM
And it will not convince me to take the episode down.
October 11, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Mr. Sarkozy has the right to be a right-wing conservative.
He has the right to support his father.
And I have the right to disagree with both of those things.
That disagreement didn’t stop him from joining my podcast.
October 11, 2025 at 1:51 PM
But that doesn’t mean I get to silence someone just because I disagree.
October 11, 2025 at 1:51 PM
Second, I do not share Mr. Sarkozy’s political views.
I’m a progressive. I support Mediapart.
I’m probably what many on the right would call "woke."
I believe in equality. I believe in ecology.
I believe people should be allowed to be who they are or who they need to be.
October 11, 2025 at 1:51 PM
My podcast isn’t about the present moment.
It’s about French history.

First, if you actually listen to the episode, you’ll hear that we don’t talk about modern French politics. Not once.
That wasn’t the subject.
We discussed Napoléon. That was the focus of our conversation.
