Panel 3: Lahabrea leans in again, grabbing Thancred's chin.
Lahabrea: Does it not please you, to have staked your claim?

Panel 4: Lahabrea smiles, his hand that was once at Thancrd's chin trialing down his neck to play with the necklace he's cursed him with.

Lahabrea: Or did this conquest not suffice in slaking your thirst?
Thancred: I-- Wait--
Lahabrea: Shall we wake her?

Panel 1: Thancred begs, eyes squinted shut: No-- Stop- please--

Panel 2: He wakes up with a start.

Panel 3: A shot from above: Thancred clings to the threadbare sheets of his bedroll, next to Minfilia of the First (Ryne) curled up in her own bedroll beside him. Their respective weapons lay on the ground next to them. Light floods in from the open slit of the tent.

Panel 4: Thancred breathes heavily as he presses a hand to his head.

Panel 5: He looks to the side where Ryne is fast asleep, and--

Panel 1: A vision of Lahabrea peers back from the shadows, sat next to Minfilia of the First. Only the hint of an arm and leg and the red of his glyph visible in the dark.

Panel 2: Lahabrea raises a finger to his lips: "Shh..."

Panel 3: Lahabrea: "You'll wake her."
Thancred looks at the illusion, eyes wide in horror.

Panel 1: Thancred reaches with a shaking hand for the flask by his bed.

Panel 2: Thancred drinks deep.

Panel 3: Out in the smothering light of the First, Thancred sits on a stump near their tent, slumped over. He rubs the back of his neck, eyes downcast. He trembles.

so far it’s shaping up to be 7/10 tearjerker jrpg, which is a micro genre I like so yipppeee

(Also side eyeing all the reviews saying the writing is so much better than jrpgs. no, it’s not. It’s pretty standard so far!)

it was mostly emet trying to threaten exarch through the usual channels (I'll kill everyone you love, etc etc) but emet himself gets so bored of going through the motions he sulks about it in front of a confused exarch before finally just letting him go
