today's etymology is "tarmac": a clipping of "tarmacadam" via "tar" (because you add tar) + "macadam" (a type of crushed-rock road paving material/technique), the latter named after its inventor 19th century Scottish engineer John McAdam en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarmaca...

My parents, aunts, and uncles are currently working on getting my grandma out of her rural home and into an urban/suburban area for exactly this reason.

It's not great for her to be driving long distances alone to the doctor on a regular basis, let alone if something happens that she can't!

On the other hand, there seems to be a tradition at this point of younger folks de facto taking the reins behind the scenes - I didn't know until just now that went back as far as Joseph Fielding Smith. That tradition would let Holland take the seat just fine 🤷

You could, though one should consider net gain and not just gross. In other words, (and assuming homo economicus) you'd aim to keep any transfers to parents less than the incurred cost (including opportunity costs) of parenthood. That could still be a pretty high amount, depending what you include
