Some sunsets are so beautiful that you have to stop and snap a picture!

#Photography #MobilePhotography #EastCoastKin #AlphabetChallenge #WeekOForOpulence #ColorADay #GreenSat #BlueSkyArtShow #Glow #PhotoHour #Scape #SunsetLovers #TravelPhotography #Sunset #Art
Nature is painting the sky and the clouds in the most opulent colors of orange, pink, yellow and grapefruit for sunset. In between there are the last remaining shades of the blue evening sky. On the horizon there are the silhouettes of an electric pole on the right side, then some trees in the middle and some windmills on the left side followed by another electric pole. In the foreground there’s a rural road making a turn to the left that’s flanked by green fields in the dark. The color of the vibrant sky paints hues of soft pink on the road.

I almost missed #FlyDay! This #pelican came in for a landing on the old pilings in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. I locked on early and held the shutter down. #photography #birds #wildlife #wildlifephotography #EastCoastKin #birdsinflight

The photo is a detailed black and white photograph of the Whitby East Pier, a Grade II listed structure in Whitby.
It's captured from a side angle, showcasing its robust construction and extending out into the North Sea. The monochrome palette emphasises the textures and contrasts of the scene. The sky is filled with a dense, cloudy cover, creating a somber and dramatic atmosphere. The clouds are heavily textured, with darker, heavier formations in the upper parts of the frame, and a lighter, more ethereal quality nearer the horizon.
The pier itself is the central subject, a long structure composed of a large, heavy stone base, topped by a thinner, elevated walkway. The lower section is visibly weathered and stained by the sea, with a rough, mottled surface. This section sits low in the water, appearing to be built to withstand powerful currents and storms. The upper walkway is supported by a series of regularly spaced vertical columns, giving it a repeating, rhythmic pattern. The columns are connected by a white railing that forms a strong horizontal line across the image, drawing the eye towards the distant lighthouse.
A small, wooden-framed lighthouse stands at the end of the visible pier section, a notable landmark of the Whitby East Pier. The lighthouse is perched on a raised platform, with a beacon on top. The structure appears to be made of wood and metal, contrasting with the heavier stone of the pier base. Several small figures can be seen on the pier walkway, dressed in dark clothing. One figure appears to be sitting or crouching on the lower pier section, while others are standing along the railing, seemingly fishing. Their presence provides a sense of scale to the massive structure.
The overall impression is one of rugged natural beauty and the enduring strength of a man-made structure against the elements, a hallmark of Whitby’s maritime heritage.

A dramatic Icelandic coastline under a moody, overcast sky. Dark volcanic cliffs and rugged rock formations rise sharply from the Atlantic Ocean, with waves crashing against the black lava shore. In the distance, the twin sea stacks of Lóndrangar stand like ancient sentinels, framed by windswept grass and moss-covered cliffs in the foreground.
