Known for their scientific rigor, IRIS reports are used around the world to protect health.

But IRIS is also a target of industry. Project 2025 called for its elimination.

And this year, Republicans introduced a bill that would stop EPA from using IRIS reports

Industry-Backed Legislation Would Bar the Use of Science Behind Hundreds of Environmental Protections
Two bills in Congress would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency from using hundreds of chemical assessments completed by its IRIS program in environmental regulations or enforcement.

The EPA won't say how it plans to assess toxic chemicals without it. They also won't confirm that it is going away.

The press office told me "it is inaccurate to say that IRIS no longer exists” but did not respond a to follow-up question about whether it’s accurate to say that IRIS does exist

If this doesn’t make you furious, you aren’t getting it..
Please share and don’t forget to let elected officials in the Republican Party know that this impacts us all. When it comes to PFAS we need bipartisan advocacy for what’s in everyone’s best interest.
Scientists Completed a Toxicity Report on This Forever Chemical. The EPA Hasn’t Released It.
Agency scientists found that PFNA could cause developmental, liver and reproductive harms. Their final report was ready in mid-April, according to an internal document reviewed by ProPublica, but the ...

We have a government that is anti regulatory, anti science and is glad to protect PFAS manufacturers and users from liability . Unfortunately, there is way more than PFOA and PFOS in our water and no one should be drinking any of this chemical class. Engineering designs MUST address all!
EPA moves to roll back drinking water standards
The Environmental Protection Agency is looking to roll back regulatory standards for three types of PFAS chemicals in drinking water systems.

🫱🏾‍🫲🏼Tackling #climatechange and chemical #pollution should go hand in hand.

Thankfully, innovative companies across Europe are already driving PFAS-free innovation in:

☀️ Solar cells

🌬️ Wind turbines

🚗 Electric vehicles

⚡ Semi-conductors
🔥 Heat pumps

Being named to this list is a stunning honor but please know I haven’t ever worked alone. Work like this takes an army and I am simply one. Congratulations to our National PFAS Coalition for this recognition of our work to create a just and sustainable path forward

Our citizen group has fought for federal water standards for all PFAS for years. We know our exposure data, now we need a stop to the harm for not just Merrimack, but all communities impacted by PFAS pollution . Today the EPA filed a motion to ask the courts to allow them to drop 4 PFAS from the law

The EPA recently announced a sweeping effort to eliminate the endangerment finding, a proposal that disregards science and carries huge consequences for tackling the climate crisis. UCS’s Rachel Cleetus and Carlos Martínez explain what it means and how scientists and supporters can speak up.
Why the EPA’s Latest Move Could Worsen the Climate Crisis
The administration's latest effort is a blatant attempt to evade the EPA's responsibility of regulating greenhouse gas emissions and pander to fossil fuel interests.
