this is my main issue w/ eldest daughter. i hate the use of savage here & it makes me viscerally uncomfy. every other part of the song i enjoy for the personal relatability but this sours the taste certainly. i accept the reality that this lyric choice was made but acceptance isn't approval.

She’s using very particular slang and I think it’s disingenuous to take it out of that context.

I think it even goes beyond his exes. It feels like a call out to Black and brown women.

I agree that it’s a poor coincidence. I don’t think TS actually meant she wanted a white neighborhood. But it does go to show how she doesn’t consider her own whiteness in what she’s saying. It’s an odd blind spot though because POC have given this critique before.
