🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles.

Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

For years we've heard from the right about "welfare queens" and other so-called "freeloaders" pulling one over on the government.

But actually, it's the wealthy who are the real freeloaders — pulling one over on us all by skirting their taxes.

Where is the outrage over that?

We should be investing in rural communities and making them better places to build a life & raise a family - not shutting down rural hospitals by choking off their funding.

Saving rural hospitals is one more reason to call your Representative and speak out against this GOP attempt to cut Medicaid.
Hundreds of rural hospitals are at risk of closing, threatening critical care
Hospital officials told CBS News the closure was driven by the same factors that have closed other rural hospitals: low reimbursement rates.

Our team of CDC'ers and public health supporters, thought this moment was notable, too! We are proud to have you, @drtomfrieden.bsky.social, with us in the fight for public health and CDC. #CDCsaveslives #saveCDC
Striking.

SEN. DURBIN: Do you know the #1 cause of preventable death in America today?

SEC. KENNEDY: Number one cause…not sure what you're talking about

SEN. DURBIN: I'm talking about tobacco. You fired the head of CDC’s Office on Smoking & Health and eliminated their efforts from your budget

It’s hardly surprising that the same people who were fine with older Americans dying from Covid have no issues with cutting Medicare.

Thrilled to learn from DOJ's argument that the 14th Amendment applied to the "children of former slaves, not illegal immigrants, who didn't exist as a class yet" that modern firearms are not protected by the Second Amendment!

99% of Social Security's revenue goes directly to beneficiaries and 99.7% of benefits are paid accurately and on time.

But DOGE is creating the conditions for waste, fraud, and abuse as they cut staff and close field offices across the country.

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

Asked now on Meet the Press if he thinks he needs to uphold the Constitution, he says, “I don’t know.”

Translation: No.
