Welcome to #CreativesConcourse, a new weekly thread for creatives of all types to share their work!

Today's theme: Names! Who's the most recent OC you've named, & is there any deep significance? Artists, you may share an OC you recently did a comm of!

My answer is below🔽
Technically, Kai’s true legal name is Kaigo Travaldi, though he rarely ever uses his full name.

He also goes by the epithet Gravebane, the Brand bestowed to him by the Grand Duchess upon being named a member of the illustrious Exarch Knights.

For this week's #CreativesConcourse, we look at character jobs!

What is your MC's job and do they actually enjoy what they do? What about their job attracts them to it? As always, my answer is below! ⬇️

#AwesomeCharacters

Of all my OCs, Osvald is probably the most likely to push himself past his limits.

While many Norzen can use plant magic, Osvald is a bit of an outcast for his ability to wield fire. After meeting Veldi, he pushes himself hard to better control it out of a desire to protect her.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

How is your character at knowing their limits?

Do they understand their flaws and work around them? Push through to their detriment? Completely overestimate themselves?

Do they improve or get worse in time?

Reproductive rights vary greatly depending on the realm. More progressive nations like Livoria have very lenient laws on issues like abortion, the only legal requirement being that women should be medically cleared by an apothecary before treatment.

I'd have to go with Santa on this one. As much as I love the lore surrounding Krampus, I do prefer Santa's wholesome energy during the holiday season.

Most realms have single family units, though it's growing more common for these to include polycule groupings.

While it's not *rare*, per se, for there be multiple generations in a home, it's not common as most homes include parents & children only.

The Faumen War Chronicles takes place over an entire year, with each book taking place during a different season:

Oaths of Life and Death - Autumn
Conquering Shadows - Spring
Ballad's End - Summer

Movie you've watched more than six time with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either War or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

Astronomy is a highly respected profession in Nixtral. In fact, 2 of my OCs are in the field!

Veldi's baby sister Cordelia is a new astronomer doing extended study at the Citadel. Lysander of BWA studies the stars as part of his work as a navigator.

Most of the FWC crew would be on the nice list. Admittedly, Morgan & Teos would be the most likely to straddle the line: The former due to his penchant for mischievous pranks & the latter for his past work as a smuggler and pirate.

Today’s snippet comes from early on in Ballad’s End, where Fusette hosts an assembly where she has big, ambitious plans!

What could those plans be? Read the series to find out!

It’s not touched on much but many large mammals like nobletusk bison often have a symbiotic relationship w/ ground mice.

The bison’s fur provides a warm, safe haven for the mice, who repay the favor by eating the flies & ticks that bother the bison.

The Black Tear Blight is among the most feared diseases in Nixtral. Known as the Realmbreaker, its attempted usage during the Faumen War drives Kai to research the disease in depth. (1/2)

My go-to holiday movie tradition has always been ‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol.’ It’s my favorite rendition of the classic.

Scientific development on Nixtral is a bit slower than on Earth. By the time of the Faumen War (AR 1026), the tech is equivalent to early 1900s Earth.

During the events of Fateweaver (AR 1185), the tech has advanced to about the 1970s.

By their very nature, early apothecaries on Nixtral needed basic chemistry knowledge to mix their elixirs.

Around the AR 1220s, the medical trade splits into apothecaries who serve as doctors/surgeons, & orchemists (what we know as pharmacists).

My favorite holiday-themed book is probably Six Geese A-Slaying by Donna Andrews. Her cozy mysteries always make me giggle and this one has some especially hilarious scenes.

#DecemberWorldbuilders Day 2

This might be a bit of a spoiler for some of Nixtral's hidden lore, but the people both evolved from more primitive lifeforms & yet their evolution was altered by the remnants of a divine being, whose spirit became a certain magical energy...

#FantasyIndiesDecember Day 2

Remembrance Day is one of the most widely beloved holidays in Livoria, celebrating the end of the Faumen War.

While there currently is no holiday akin to Christmas on Nixtral, that doesn't mean one can't potentially develop... 😏

In Fateweaver, Amaro serves as Zelora’s main antagonist.

A sly casino owner, Amaro takes his loss to Zelora in a rigged game a bit too personally & sends an army of thugs out to kill her and retrieve the rare coin she won off him.
Why is the antagonist of your MC their antagonist? What caused the friction? #WritingPrompt

Science in Nixtral is a dedicated calling. Technically, scientific pursuits are open to anyone w/ a can-do attitude & an idea.

While Corlati is known for its advanced military, Livoria proves itself the center of scientific innovation (1/2).

- Bonds of Honor

#NovemberWorldbuilders Day 30

To be honest, the concept of magic was originally not meant to be part of Nixtral.

However, after researching different magic systems, I realized it would add an additional layer to my worldbuilding & allow me to get more creative w/ the stories.
