Sane people in the US are terrified and gutted. It will take generations to dig out of the hole a few genuinely evil people have dig for us. But please don’t retreat. Now is the time to find a way to act, to make the lives of our elected representatives harder, to work, to build communities.

every time I read this, I get apocalyptically apoplectic about how clear it is. it is instant. it does not require explicit congressional action to invoke, it instead only requires that to remove.

donald trump is not the current president right now, according to the constitution.

At the end of this, I want to see a federal government made up of socialist nurses, elementary school teachers, mothers, and librarians. Get rid of every single Republican, every Democrat who sat on their thumbs and let this happen. The US better be to the left of Sweden when this is all over.

But the president of the United States is a criminally insane madman who is openly extorting the entire world and threatening war with NATO. The test is whether you’ll actually react APPROPRIATELY and PROPORTIONATELY, and our institutions have not and in fact refuse to do so.

Stay strong, Minnesota. These fascist motherfuckers are stupid and cruel. We will prevail.

Every day a new extreme embarrassment about being American.

Exactly two of us want to take over Greenland, and they’re the worst humans alive. We don’t want this. We don’t want WWIII. We don’t want to be at war with our allies.

Trump needs to be in prison, where he belongs.

American conservatives will look you right in the eye with a straight face and tell you that complete and utter subservience to masked federal police is patriotism, anything else deserves being executed in the street, and tax dollars for healthcare is tyranny.

There are people who don't know, who didn't know. Moments like these are when they learn, and a window opens for people who want to turn their hunger for justice into action, for our numbers to increase. Stay mad and don't get jaded, in my opinion, get the newly passionate on board. 2/2

in these moments, in my view, it is a political and spiritual DUTY for my outrage and anger to be as fresh as if I'd never heard how they shot Fred Hampton in his bed. As fresh as if I didn't know Bobby Hutton was surrendering when they shot him. 1/2

Remove him from power immediately. If this isn’t evidenced of insanity, I don’t know what would be.

Pro tip: if you want to collaborate with an independent bookstore, don’t use AI in your communications. You instantly lose all credibility.

Art lives in the process, in the struggle to grow and figure out the specific needs of the work, and in the arrival at a better understanding of the artist’s limitations. The product is just the end result of the art.

Let's not forget the obvious: that the Felon in the White House is also a Russian asset. Working to the benefit of russia, not the United states. Donald Trump is destroying the country from within for the benefit of Vladimir putin.

Generative AI is for losers. It’s so embarrassing to watch people debase real artists, the environment, and themselves for a sloppy, rip-off of a party trick.

Grammar pet peeve (I know, language is constantly evolving, etc.) but I’ve seen this three times today:

You graduate FROM college (intransitive usage of the verb).

The college is what graduates you (transitive).

The college remains where it is; you take your degree and flee.

If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.

I get so furious when people who could easily write something dumb and quick clearly use Chat GPT to toss it off. They’re just branding their foreheads with the word LAZY.

Pretty impressive that through this entire scandal and press blitz, RFK Jr. hasn't lost focus on his life's work of shortening the life expectancy of the average American and endangering the lives of children.

I have an actual allergy to Bad Things sentences. They simply don’t appear in the work of people who are attentive to language, unless the writer is using them for a clear purpose (and with extreme rarity).

There’s no satisfaction as a bookseller greater than leading a lovely young person who asked for Ayn Rand toward Carmen Maria Machado instead.
