Hi everybody!
❤️🏺✍️
I’m a Classics teacher (nearly two decades!) with English Lit, Ancient History, Latin and Drama experience.
I’m also a Classics illustrator at GreekMythComix.com (comix, infographics) and also over at laurajenkinsonbrown.co.uk (illos) where I’m also writing You Are Odysseus!

My incredibly chonky book has been out in the world for two weeks!

Retell The Odyssey by making Odysseus’ choices for him. Or, don’t, and go home to Penelope/get cosy with Phaeacians/skive off to Egypt with Menelaus/die horribly in a variety of ways👌

I was so convinced I had this wrong. The Pantheon is really, really big.
The facade of the Pantheon in size comparison with the Parthenon, Temple of Zeus at Olympia, and Temple of Portunus from the Forum Boarium in Rome. The facade of the Pantheon in size comparison with the Parthenon, Temple of Zeus at Olympia, and Temple of Portunus from the Forum Boarium in Rome. This time there’s a huge blue ball inside the Pantheon to show the diameter of the inner imaginary sphere.
lejenksbrown.bsky.social
Diagram yes, dimensions no. There are bizarrely few dimensions on any diagrams of the Pantheon that I can find.
lejenksbrown.bsky.social
Oh ok if I use the the diameter of the imaginary ball I can put it on a scale and work it out from there. Phew!
lejenksbrown.bsky.social
Can someone please, please tell me how wide (at widest point) and how tall the Pantheon in Rome is? The diameter of the ball that could fit inside is 43m, but that’s all I can find. Wiki has 53m for both height and width. At some point I wrote down it was 43.2m wide and 52m tall but I lost source!

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

If you are still awake, take a moment you look up at the moon. Currently untroubled by living humans. Still a place of ghosts, gods and 20th century wreckage.

I just had my own Magnus Archives moment. *Jonny Sims voice* It was a grey morning, the sun just starting to rise through the fog. The number 8 bus was waiting across the road. I raised my eyes to its sickly yellow light and noticed with a start that *every single passenger was staring at me.*

Today’s magic word on my digital bus ticket is ‘Brink’ and I think that’s appropriate.
