2025 was the wrong year to give up chocolate.
I should be weaving in my ends on a hat so I can show off this great hat and cowl set I made, but the spirit has not moved me yet. Instead...

Here is a shawl I've been working on. I'm using the basic design of the Off Tropic pattern by Alina Appasova but without any of the mosaic.

This dystopian video is previewing a violent takeover, not a targeted law enforcement action. It's insane.

Trump is militarizing our cities to STOKE violence. Not to reduce it. These are the tried and true tactics of authoritarians - plain and simple.

What's important is to understand the cumulative effect of it all. To not just see today's outrage.

See the silencing of Kimmel, the arrest of Comey, the harassment of Soros, the troops in our cities, the seizure of spending power, as all part of a plan to end our democracy.
This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate.

A legend. Only met him briefly, but he was lovely. It was a real honor to get to be a part of the Sundance legacy with the Screenwriters Lab and the festival the year after.
I'm not sure I am a fan of the back side, but there's no way to do this as reversible. I'm doing my best to keep it looking clean and presentable.
It's past time for a 🧶 WIP status check in on this, I'd say. I'm halfway through with the squares and will still need to do a border on three sides.

I've been weaving in ends periodically so that they wouldn't get too bad, but sheesh, it's still a lot.
My haul from The Peculiarity Shop (@peculiarityshop.bsky.social).
Thank you, Hillary and Becky!

The ring is Some Evenstar Bullshit and the silver round pendant with a drop of blue in the center is Little Drop of Magic, both by Hillary. The tear drop shape pendant is Shiv and Hillary's Coppertone.
Tada! It's wonky and has errors and I will be frogging it tomorrow, but not bad for a first try in almost two years.
Current Me is very grateful to Past Me for bookmarking my favorite How to Crochet a Magic Circle video.

Current Me, however, is also frustrated that I can't just pick up and start crocheting again after not doing it for over a year. So silly of me to think it would be like riding a bike.

In case you'd rather not read the alt text, I will just add that the yarn is MadelineTosh Prairie in the color Dr Zhivago's Sky and the pattern is Snowfrost by Gretha Menson.

Changes I made: I only cast on 78 stitches. I also did not do the i-cord edge or use the smaller needles to knit the ends.
I finished a scarf! I knit this using two lace yarns together and it formed a fabulously squishy fabric that I love. It is 12" x 70" in size (unblocked) and it would really benefit from blocking but I just don't have the spoons (or space) for that right now. Additional details in the Alt Text. 🧶
Seriously? Another group of canvassers - before 11 am on a Sunday? They were far more polite than the last group, but I was a tad rude, because who the f*** is letting them into the building, and stop messing with my morning routine.

Just an old curmudgeon here, I guess.

Sorry but they pissed me off and I needed to rant about it.

Now I need to go refill my coffee and grab a snack.
On a SATURDAY MORNING.
In a security access building that has a no solicitations policy that is clearly posted.

Look, you are NEVER going to get my vote by knocking loudly on my door and soliciting in a locked "no solicitations" limited access building.

This is what the telephone exists for.
The only election on my primary this September is for Alderperson for my Ward. There are three contenders.

One has no website.
One has a website and called me and we chatted for a few minutes.
One has friends canvassing for them BANGING ON FUCKING DOORS and scaring the bloody hell out of people.

If Democratic politicians do not fight this because it's a "distraction," it will simply happen. They need to get in front of every mic and say that we will not allow Trump to destroy American history. He wants a culture war? GIVE HIM ONE. There are no distractions. Have every fight.

crazy, what is it about lisa cook that might have led the white house to baselessly accuse her of mortgage fraud in order to force her out of her job?
(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday called on Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign, citing a call by the head of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency urging the Department of Justice to probe Cook over alleged mortgage fraud.

A dark day for the Senate, & the country—confirmation of Emil Bove as a federal appellate judge. Unfit & unqualified, he was rushed to a vote by Republicans, who refused  to hear whistleblower testimony or demand DOJ files. Reckless & reprehensible.
