As of October 1, 2025, coverage for certain Medicare telehealth services has expired. While we are hopeful that Congress will act to restore this coverage, the government shutdown has prevented its ability to do so.

We understand this may impact how you access care, and we are committed to keeping you informed and supported during this time. At Weill Cornell Medicine, your access to high-quality care remains our top priority.

What This Means for You
•

Routine video visits are still available. However, due to the government shutdown, Medicare is no longer covering most telehealth services, with the exception of Behavioral Health telehealth services.
•

If the federal government remains shut down through October 14, 2025, you will be asked to pay $149 at the time of your telehealth visit starting October 15, 2025.
•

Before your appointment, you will receive a Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) to complete and sign. This form lets you know that Medicare may not cover the service and gives you the option to proceed with the visit and accept financial responsibility.
•If you prefer to avoid this fee for telehealth services, you may choose to contact your physician’s office for an in-person appointment.

Unironically.
This is also why I maintain that a lot of 'rich folks' are not actually rich. They're just tossing around the same 'estimated assets' that I'm not convinced have any actual dollar backing.

And adding imaginary interest on top of those numbers to make 'number go up' in perpetuity.
