It was the perfect day to visit Nob End SSSI (it really is called that 😆😂) to see how the Autumn Gentians were getting on. I had such a happy time admiring them, they were looking absolutely stunning in the glorious sunshine!💜

Not strictly botanical, but I think these are oak artichoke galls, caused by the little wasp Andricus foecundatrix? on Pedunculate Oak, Quercus robur. I've never seen them before but found them several times here in #CoSligo this summer. #PlantGalls @bsbibotany.bsky.social @bitheolaidhe.bsky.social

We went to the Norfolk Broads last weekend for to see the Swallowtail butterflies. But we were also heartened by the apparent abundance of other species, many of whom were particularly enjoying the Hemp Agrimony.
