Your timely reminder that Donald Trump tried to claim NYC residence to take a $49,000 tax break on his Manhattan condo while he and Melania lived in the White House, only to get it yanked after my colleague and I caught the misrepresentation.
EXCLUSIVE: City nixes property tax break for Trump’s NYC apartment
New York City has nixed a $48,000 tax break President Trump was set to receive on his Trump Tower condo following inquiries from the Daily News about whether he is still eligible for the savings. O…

Lindsay Halligan shouldn’t have a law license when this is done and should also be made personally liable for damages for the prosecutions she approved. Letting people sue these motherfuckers into oblivion is going to be the only way.

Good luck ever finding work again to the prosecutors who try this bullshit case.

Just kidding, I hope you are living in a barrel before you pay off your student loans.

There's nothing at all wrong with being Palestinian, and using "Palestinian" in this way is deeply racist against Palestinians, but it is also antisemitic, because it defines Jewishness as something that can be granted and removed for political reasons.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Something that GLS does that no other delivery company does but totally could: tell you how many stops away your delivery is, and update the time accordingly.

More and more CA wineries use GLS and it’s always better than UPS or FedEx.

“A more robust and effective damages regime obviously would not prevent unconstitutional conduct by government officers. But it sure would be an easy way to reduce its frequency—and it would also be a remarkably easy statute to write.”

Me in today’s bonus issue of “One First”:
Bonus 182: Damages as a (Missing) Deterrent
It's worth reflecting on how different things might look right now if federal officers—or the federal government itself—faced a meaningful specter of monetary liability for constitutional violations.

We should absolutely, like 1950s levels, jack taxes on the richest 0.1 percent.

I don’t think it’s wise to allow conversion therapy in a country with loose gun laws.

Sounds like someone is trying to goose donors into ignoring the prevailing anti-Republican political winds. Anyway, I hope Elise runs, it would be great to have her out of office and back to old job of being a loud local cow of the Adirondacks.

A new poll commissioned by Team Stefanik from Gray House puts her in a statistical tie with Gov. Hochul after voters "hear information about both candidates."
Only Gray House didn't release the exact language they used, standard practice for pollsters and crucial to assess data

The White House Antifa Roundtable is one of the best displays I’ve seen of this-is-how-bad-it’s-gotten — just a sewer of open fascism, dementia, morons and freaks, and incoherent rage.

A database where you can find the name and past locations of each one of these SS agents, will be essential for accountability in 2029. That and an act codifying personal liability. There is no other way to discourage further criminality of people only following orders.

as a kid growing up right-wing i regularly heard people express their desire for "a government so small I can drown it in the bathtub". imagine my surprise growing up to realize i was the only one who actually believed that.

I would send them a draft of my forthcoming one star review as well as reach out to Air BnB’s customer service.

Also would do some aggressive asking about how they suspected I was late in checking out. They have to disclose any security cameras and their location.

I’m not sure what to think of this.

We rented an Air B&B.

The place had a plumbing problem that was repaired.

When checking out, we attempted to clean up some of the water mess.

We were perhaps five minutes late checking out.

Nobody was there.

Now we’re being charged $500 as a late fee🤷‍♂️

Supreme Court: of course states can regulate, and restrict access to, medical procedures if there’s a compelling public interest

Colorado: (bans conversion therapy for minors)

Supreme Court: no not like that, we only meant abortion

If conservatives don’t want to do it, then it’s a first amendment violation.

That’s the current status of first amendment law in this country.

Reform the court now.
