Yes, Ds could do more.

You know what Rs did when they wanted to defund an agency?

They forced the USPS to "pre-fund health benefits for future retirees" - "for the next 75 years, mind you, something no other public or private agency does."

How Healthcare Expenses Cost Us Saturday Postal Delivery | TIME.com
Wednesday’s announcement that the United States Postal Service would halt Saturday delivery to help fix its financial mess sounded like a good move for the deficit-laden agency. After all, Postmaster ...

This was my first thought also. There's an Ace down the street that also has home goods, kitchen supplies, toys, drugstore (they used to have a pharmacy even). It would be my first stop if I were looking for a gas mask.
"Ace is the place for the helpful hardware folks"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

I mean Suzanne Collins named the country in the Hunger Games Panem for this exact reason. People (not all people but many often throughout history) love a bloody spectacle and marketing violence is incredibly easy and profitable.
People say that the GOP is all stick no carrot, that they forgot the bread and circuses.

But the thing is these guys are all incredibly cooked in the CSAM slop Nazi bar, playing to a tiny but loud group of utter freaks for whom murder and cruelty *is* the carrot and the bread and the circus.

Do we know what hotel chains are hosting ICE & CBP in Minneapolis?

It's wild that business schools don't teach "There are still people who don't buy Volkswagons bc of World War 2."

But there's no time like the present for a refresher, I guess.

I have to do actual math tomorrow but y'all helped us funnel over $800 to Community Aid Network MN ❤️
We're still not sure about our Sunday hours but if you visit the Bookshop or our website on Saturday 1/24 you can help us raise funds for MN mutual aid!

"Embrace the penguin" is gonna be my villain origin story. The other shit this administration does makes me furious and makes me want to fight and help and cry.
This new slogan (?) has me feeling like Buffy waking up in the psych ward in Normal Again.

MN protestors #protip put 2 Idaho Russets in the oven at 420 degrees for 45 min, take them out and foil wrap, 1 in each pocket before you go out. Theyll stay warm for 3-4 hours even in this weather and you can eat em when you like. They used to send us kids out like this back in the 70s trust me.

This is the story at the base of Marathon Man, the fourth or fifth best screenplay William Goldman wrote.
"Is it safe?"
No, fucker, it isn't and it never will be. Grandmothers in the Diamond District will never forget and they will rally a mob to get your ass on sight.
People remember stories of Anne Frank and other Jews hiding in attics, but they're often less aware that by the 1980s, German families were hiding their aging grandparents from Nazi hunters.

From Berlin to Buenos Aires. They had to use aliases. Nowhere in the world was safe. Turnabout is a bitch.

NYCers, part of the reason you should run your errands tomorrow and stay home Sunday is your own safety but also you should anticipate that THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE SELLING THINGS TO YOU should also be staying home Sunday if this storm lives up to expectations.

I looked this up on IG to check if it was real and then described it to my wife and her response was "don't let them gaslight you into thinking YOU'RE the crazy one"
Apart from anything else there are no penguins in Greenland. Unless he’s invading the South Pole too….

Since NYC describes itself as a sanctuary city, does this contract violate the Hudson River Park Trust's code of ethics?

I honestly don't know if FIFA or the IOC is more corrupt but LA28 has more lead time to organize a boycott.

The responses to this are illuminating.
My mom and dad were born in '45 & '46, but neither one was involved in any movements. My mom, who was getting an MBA in the late'60s, constantly insists that things are always and forever the same.
I need to hear from the folks in the 60/70s and protesting Vietnam (and everything else)...did shit feel as corrupt, unjust, overwhelming, and impossible to overcome as they do now? Not inviting you to compare, more how you felt in the moment, not knowing what you know now

This is remarkable. So simple in concept and so many moving parts to coordinate to actually make happen. And they ARE making it happen.
If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:
