I met a man this week. Having worked for 25 years, a former trauma resurfaced in recent years causing him to break down. He lost his home and has been sleeping in his car and now in the park. He’s also very unwell. For some reason he’s been told he’s ’not a priority’ for help from the city council.
Abused, unwell & sleeping in the park - but he's not a 'priority'
He's worked all his life, but past trauma saw him spiral and lose his home. Now, despite doctor's confirming his serious health issues, he has been told he doesn't qualify for support.

These traitors are killing it. Not a single vote for either. Fair play.

Hard to put into words how sad and frustrating this is. The row over the security services means the Hillsborough families are now urging MPs to vote against the government on the Hillsborough Law on Monday.

From The Guardian: "concerns were confirmed by the indiscreet activities of some of Jenrick’s unofficial aides, known internally as the “grid of shit” plotters"

They sound like a lovely bunch

Robert Jenrick in a slippery act of craven self-interest? That seems so out of character.

For as long as I’ve been a reporter, the north has been calling for a major new rail plan and we’ve been promised Northern Powerhouse Rail and let down many times

Obviously the devil will be in the detail, but this feels like a big commitment to the north from the government. Good news.

As I've said before the lack of focus on A&E in govt plans is bewildering even just from a political perspective. For many people it's their most viseral and memorable interaction with the state.
This week an elderly woman died alone on a trolley in a hospital corridor, with desperate, exhausted staff unable to tend to her

This is the reality in our NHS right now and for those on the front line, it’s horrifying

In Sefton Park today and a fire engine had been called out. The little man is obsessed so when the guys had finished their job they very kindly let him (and me) have a go on the hose.

Safe to say it made his day.
