We thought the Brighton Centre looked much better when the @libdems.org.uk had our conference there a year ago.

Confucius Institutes is only one malign influence at the University of Leeds. The breadth and depth of CCP's assertions - orchestrating enticing 'gains for the community', have only recently begun to be grasped by security services in Europe.

Enhanced FIRS on #China will help protect our democracy.

China is a threat to our national security. It’s shocking that this spying case has collapsed because of a refusal by the government and officials to recognise this.

The government must call out China's behaviour and take a strong stand against it's attempts to interfere with our country.

At the basic, the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme places a WARNING label on entities. It increases public awareness.

And Enhanced FIRS is necessary on China because of their whole-of-society malign operations that's ever increasing in the UK.

Perhaps more worrying is that this promotion from a Reform UK Councillor is seemingly straight out of the Chinese Communist Party's playbook to discredit, distort the truth and recapture control of the narrative.

It also attempts to exert psychological pressure to deter individuals from criticism.

The MI5 alert over 'Chinese agent' Christine Lee, the abrupt dropping of charges on the Cash espionage case - to which the Speaker of the House says, "leaves the door open to foreign actors" and the guilty Chinese spy charge in Germany points to the need to take an incredibly serious China audit.

Taiwan energised the whole of civil society in the Sunflower Movement. For 23 days, determined Taiwanese objected the trade deals with China proposed by former President Ma.

In China, the CCP leadership could never tolerate any question raised from the civil society.

In China, digital ID is used to restrict movements, restrict work and deploy social score to control who you might want to make friends with. Just like Black Mirror S3E1.

Without proper consultation, without a digital bill of rights, we're glad the Lib Dems say NO to Mandatory ID.

Keir Starmer says everyone in the UK will be required to have mandatory digital ID. That’s not the kind of country we want to be.

Liberal Democrats have always stood up to defend civil liberties against government overreach.

We will fight tooth and nail to oppose these plans too.
