Citing concerns about DEI, the U.S. Department of Education has halted funding for programs that support students with combined hearing and vision loss in eight states.

Why are we acting like students MUST have access to these tools!

Really good news for students and educators. Perhaps people are tired of chaos agents running school boards.

They had excellent reporting. This is depressing.
They just gutted Teen Vogue which had top notch political journalism. The media is continuing to purge any sort of political dissent to Trump and the oligarchs.

Hope people are checking the portal to see what’s happened to their premiums 😔
It’s kinda fitting to wake up the morning after Halloween to find my health insurance premium doubled.

Some heroes wear capes. Some wear pajama pants.
Per @chicagotribune.com, the pajama-pants-guy is a former county prosecutor.

And he had some things to say. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/25/c...

Influencers are now spreading misinformation about mammograms. 😡
Some of the mammogram myths we keep hearing:

❌ "Mammogram radiation causes breast cancer"
❌ "The compression can make cancer burst and spread"
❌ "The radiation is dangerous"

None of this is true!

If you wrote this as fiction, an editor would reject it as too unbelievable.
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Plus, students don’t need plain language summaries. They need to start grappling with the vocabulary and discourse in their intended fields.
I've received an 'exclusive' invite to try Nature's new 'research assistant', which will burn down a forest to provide a 'summary of the paper' I'm reading and I have SUCH exciting news for them, that's called an 'abstract' and the actual authors already wrote it for me, no forest-burning required.

Herman Wells and Ernie Pyle would be distraught.
UPDATE: Following the firing of the director of the student newspaper, Indiana University has now cut the print edition of the newspaper entirely.

If they’re going to collect tariff money, it should be used to help our citizens. Maybe fund healthcare by extending the premium subsidies that made ACA plans affordable?
The US is going to bailout Argentina with your tariff money.

Let that sink in

Truly excellent news for the educators and students of OK.
BREAKING: Oklahoma Education Superintendent Ryan Walters says he is resigning. (Of course, he announced this on Fox News.)

What starts in TX spreads. These are wonderful works of literature. 😔
I need help getting this CRAZY censorship story out!

Last week, admins in Leander ISD emailed teachers telling them to “pause” use of 40 books relating to “DEI” that had previously been curriculum or choice reading activities.

Included on the list? To Kill a Mockingbird. #bookbans #booksky

An excellent explanation of how data in future autism studies under this administration can be manipulated.
A short explanation of p-hacking and why it absolutely makes sense to ask HHS to release the study methods of their autism report in advance.

Perhaps the @aft.org should reconsider partnering with AI companies now. They don’t have kids’ best interests at heart.
This is bonkers.

Please go ask a young adult librarian for suggestions. Readers advisory IS part of their job!
Over on Reddit someone is asking for science fiction for their precocious young reader and the people there are suggesting books that were old when that kid's grandparents were the same age as the kid, for fuck's sake if you didn't know any SF books from this millennium maybe sit this question out

Mark Cuban has done some good things. However, the idea that business leaders need to be incentivized to pay a good wage is sad, especially when working class people are punished for not finding a job or don’t get adequate, or any, health coverage at a job they do find.
Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO.

Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

ESAs and vouchers rob money from the public school system.
Arizona!
We voted against the ESA so Republicans created this monstrosity anyway. It’s out of control w/$124 MILLION in taxpayer dollars handed out with ZERO OVERSIGHT—funding luxury items & vacations! AZ teachers pay out-of-pocket for supplies while rich kids go to San Diego

Over 1 million ESA reimbursement requests have been automatically approved since December
12News finds several questionable ESA purchases as Superintendent Tom Horne's office is approving everything less than $2,000, with plans to audit later.
