Today is a good day to remind you that none of the classic vote studies thought very highly of women's political competence.

Very excited for my first #EPSA2025!
I’ll be presenting work on attitudes towards digitalisation in the EU on Saturday, 13:10 at the „Politics of New Technology“ panel. Looking forward to meeting many (new) people amidst Madrid‘s lovely summer vibes.

Spannende Analyse @netzpolitik.org.
Neues Digitalministerium: So will Schwarz-Rot das Land digitalisieren
Was ändert sich damit, was bleibt gleich?...

There is again a media discussion on whether #TikTok drives parties’ popularity. This time: #dieLinke at the German election. Before the election, I wrote a blog arguing that we should not overemphasise hyped digital factors and instead embed them into broader political changes.

Which role did digital phenomena play in 2024, the year of elections?
Below, I summarise our commentaries on the impact of digital tech and elections in 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇮🇳🇬🇧🇮🇩🇿🇦🇲🇽🇷🇺 @oiioxford.bsky.social.
I argue that hypes and technological determinism come with the risk of overlooking broader political questions.
