Why would someone put a fake letter into the Epstein files? They would have no idea that these files would be released.
There's plenty of evidence implicating Trump in the public record. The creepy birthday card and picture of Trump buying a "fully depreciated" female is enough.

If the letter were a deliberate red herring then you wouldn't have the DOJ out here panic-posting, "We're looking into this letter, but it's definitely fake, but we're looking into it."

I had MS Now on over lunch. They are reporting that DOJ says that the letter is fake. I don't have a transcript, but as I recall the evidence DOJ presents is that the postmark location is Virginia, not NY where Epstein was imprisoned, and the date was after his death.

I've been thinking a lot about the redactions in the Epstein files. Some of them are pretty straightforward in their nature — obviously about privacy issues. But this is a very odd one — why redact the "acts" described?

DoJ can create whatever fog they want. You can’t deny:
1) Trump & Epstein were extremely close
2) The thing that made them close was sexual predation
3) Trump was involved with countless parties where the rape of teens took place

Trump so rarely displays any sign of empathy or concern for other people ... almost never really, not even for victims. So it's striking how concerned he seems to be about *innocent* people having their reputations ruined by having their names or pictures come out in these Epstein file releases.
