you’re already ahead. stay with it. minneapolis stripped these forces of legitimacy (a battle other cities won’t have to repeat). remember they are completely outmanned. their only real advantage is their organizational capacity. out-organize them & the illusion of control will collapse.
I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.

i will never get over this rebecca tiffany quote: the goal of yimbyism is a world where "every trans eighteen-year-old who is stuck living with unsupportive family [is] able to afford an apartment in a vibrant urban space with transit on a minimum wage job."

"I'm calling to demand the immediate dismantling of ICE for the murder of a woman in Minneapolis today and the impeachment of the President for his support of that murder" is the easiest call to my senators and representative I've ever made

Pro tips: 1. Never get the surgery. 2. Doctor-prescribed therapy helps. 3. Improved ergonomics help. 4. Rest works best (and is essential), and it takes a long time b/c this is a nerve issue not a muscular issue. I was diagnosed and had it for years and now am completely cured.

journalism is cooked at CBS. i’d be packed up tonight. even if you could do your job, you’d still be propping up whatever this is.

just walk out.

you can leave.

if it sucks, hit da bricks.

real winners quit.
Here's the clip of Tony Dokoupil ending tonight's broadcast by absolutely gushing over "ultimate Florida Man" Marco Rubio.

A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

Trump is trying to distract Americans from the Epstein files, from the Obamacare disaster (no tax credits), and from his growing unpopularity (see: the Kennedy Center debacle). He's becoming a war criminal in the process. What a moron. #Venezuela #Obamacare #Epsteinfiles

This is such a good idea and I hope we try it in the US. It starts to re-introduce some of the care and support to families that can build lasting caregiver-family *teams* that support children.

In AIDS, because it was often a quick, young death, patients were eager to get the show on the road and unable to wait for generational change (that's why, for instance, there were few patient lawsuits, which might otherwise been a useful strategem--people didn't have years to wait).

For instance, my friend John launched AIDS Treatment News, a landmark, fairly technical treatment publication--*before* there was any effective AIDS treatment. What would research into AIDS need to be? What existing drugs might treat it? How to test them? The publication helped frame the research.
