Water.

In the most known Bashkir epic “Ural-batyr”, the world is born out of water in complete darkness.

The first piece of land is wet and swampy, and that primordial swamp symbolizes chaos – the state when the soil and the water are yet to be separated.

Migation Period. Note influences - Roman, Celtic, etc. Have to think that as well as Terry Gunnell's "pantheon, what pantheon", it is also Norse/Germanic and what else? The Romans weren't afraid of syncretism, so why anyone else?

If that is Odin, all I can say, is that the guy must be in drag. I don't care how meticulous elite Scandi men were at that time about their appearance, that beehive and braid, all beaded, is the equivalent of a drag queen. Which perhaps Odin needed to be ...

How old is Norse mythology?
Are there myths in Norse mythology that trace back to an ancient Indo-European heritage from thousands of years ago?

This, apparently*, is the earliest known reference to Odin. It's a bracteate, gold coin from Denmark, early C5th AD/CE. Seems to depict stylised raven, stylised horse (?) and Odin (?)

Bracteate (gold coin), Denmark, early C5th AD, with inscription in runic text "I am Odin's man", showing stylised raven, stylised horse (?), portrait of Odin (?).

I has been a very long time since I posted this list of 40 consequences of climate change. But, it's important to take note of item number 40.

I truly wish things were going to get better, but sadly, it's all just going to get more f&%ked from here.

Mythology resonance -
"Brothers will fight and kill each other,
sisters' children will defile kinship.
It is harsh in the world, whoredom rife
—an axe age, a sword age —shields are riven—
a wind age, a wolf age— before the world goes headlong.
No man will have mercy on another."

Agree 💯on seismic activity - a "who'd have thought that" that normies are going to be gobsmacked about when it smacks them up.

Then it is real. Allow it *its* reality: let go of the reality you wanted.

TBH I think that might be millennia rather than centuries.

This is my very good friend & my son’s ex-partner of 12 years. He has stage 4 terminal cancer at 37 yo with no insurance. If you can help out, I would really appreciate it!

We’re trying to get him some palliative care. 💔💙🌏✌️

Of course an unrepresentative sample but interesting how the women who respond put their arms around the signalling woman and move her away while the man just moves her away and almost stands between her and the 'aggressor'.

WE WILL RUN OUT OF FOOD.

The fact we aren’t using this precious & precarious moment to rebuild our food system around need & not profit - changing what we eat, how we produce food & how we transport it - will prove our gravest & most suicidal mistake.

But their chaos must have been a bit predictable, if you see what I mean, e.g. drought here now, but water will be in that place if we walk there. What of a chaos of unknown unknowns?

Has that vid been part of it? No need to answer.

Don't know if this is relevant - A/S Frig, just a name; Old Norse Frigg, not much, and conventional interpretation has me going "meh...". But Fensalir, always Fensalir glimmers.

I hope there is one thing that still reaches out to you.

Medieval manuscript illustration of a battlefield; one soldier leans on an axe, another leads a horse and carries a shield, a crowned soldier gestures with one finger in front of him, and another three soldiers converse amongst themselves.

That's good. But, if you're *living* in a community, wait to see how who's gonna shift the shit out of the compostable toilet is dealt with and wait until the men speak more (about everything, even washable menstruation pads) and take over directing the discussions.
