Die CDU hat im Europaparlament die Brandmauer eingerissen.
Dabei wurde letzte Woche die Axt ans EU Lieferkettengesetz gelegt.

👀 All eyes on Brussels today! Will the EPP keep their word and preserve the cordon sanitaire - or, instead, risk democracy over their irresponsible deregulation agenda?
Im EU-Parlament droht gerade die Brandmauer zu fallen! Erneut! Die christdemokratische EVP will mit den Rechtsextremen gemeinsam für einen Frontalangriff auf Menschenrechts- und Umweltstandards der EU-Lieferkettenrichtlinie stimmen. Abgestimmt wird morgen. Helft Druck zu machen!

Tomorrow, multinational Lafarge and several of its former executives will stand trial in Paris for financing terrorist groups. Although this is a milestone for corporate accountability, it should not detract from the fact that the company is also charged for complicity in crimes against humanity.

Wir fordern die Mitarbeiter*innen des BAFA auf, ihrer Remonstrationspflicht als Beamt*innen nachzukomen, d.h. Bedenkenzur Rechtmäßigkeit der Weisung gegenüber den Ministerien zu äußern, und bis zur Klärung die Weisung nicht in die Tat umzusetzen!

Das Lieferkettengesetz schützt Menschen weltweit vor Ausbeutung & die Umwelt vor Zerstörung. Dennoch will die Bundesregierung das Gesetz abschwächen. Heute haben wir mit vielen Partner*innen ein Zeichen für ein starkes Lieferkettengesetz gesetzt & 210.000+ Unterschriften zu dessen Erhalt übergeben.

"One having a clear majority." - What Jörgen Warborn fails to say: that this majority would rely on the far-right. The EP's Omnibus rapporteur openly threatening to vote with the far-right is a shocking demonstration of how the EPP is willing to put democracy at risk for the benefit of companies.

The German Ministry of Economics has just instructed the supervisory authority under the Supply Chain Act, BAFA, to not make use of several of its enforcement powers under the law - to act more "business friendly". It seems to have forgotten what "supervision" (and the separation of powers) mean...
