I really liked Poldark, and also it's a bit dark. Not quite as dark as say, Outlander, but definitely darker than an Austen.

I've heard it's like finding a romantic partner in a surprising number of ways. There's what's on paper and then there's ✨vibes✨ and chemistry and timing. Right person, right book, right time! And it's never a good idea to marry/sign with someone when it's just not quite right.

I feel like pitching is marketing craft and prose is writing craft—two very different skills. I can't imagine how difficult it is to be an agent. You could love a book and still not feel that you're the person to sell it. It's some magical alchemy to me. 😆 That's why I'm never mad at a rejection.

I totally understand that. As a reader, I can be super lukewarm on a concept/blurb and LOVE the book or vice versa, so I can't imagine how difficult it is as an agent to parse from such short pitches! Prose is primary. 🙌
