Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running.

This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.
Our Economy Is in Danger. Here’s Why

Found another vintage 1940-50s (guessing) nurse's winter coat in wool (burn test) and rayon (burn, acetone). It doesn't fit me, but would if I either install a zipper or change to single button. Now, would it be ethical of me to hack it? I mean, the museums already have a bunch of them, right?

I am afraid that once again, just like the last four years, inktober fell victim to work, but I did manage a bunch while on Autumn holiday.

Black panther moment. Kudos to NYTimes for headlining with "seasoned officials", not women.

Also Lina Khan ❤️ (Been a fan since I read parts of "Amazon's Antitrust Paradox " in Yale Law Journal)

Gaza is exceptional in how consistently the bar against journalists has been applied, but there are certainly other groups that are barring, threatening and killing journalists:
Russia (Russia-Ukraine)
Taliban
Myanmar
RSF (Sudan)
...note the company.

Just watched Bigelow's A House of Dynamite on Netflix. Excellent and wellacted, like a well put together clockwork of interconnected scenes, and stressful, as in people who take decisions have way too little data (decision support researcher stressful 😂).

Recommend warmly.

An interesting and thoughtful long read from Israeli magazine +972 about how to dismantle ethical objection in war: by giving soldiers military objectives they cannot themselves validate or reason about.
