Pickup stick & heddle rod are all set! Need to wind some weft & the weaving can begin! I haven't woven 3/1 twill since my first towel project in 2017. Luckily I still had all my string heddles tucked safely away but I remember them being a bit too long so I spent time shortening them all. #weaving
An angled view of Kelli's Kromski Harp Forte rigid heddle loom equipped with two 10 dent heddles and warped with a hand dyed warp of transitioning stripes. A pick up stick and a heddle rod with string heddles attached can be seen behind the rigid heddles. Two piles of string heddles lay on Kelli's desk. In the lefthand pile the loops are larger. The righthand pile contains fewer string heddles and the loops have been knotted a second time to reduce the size of the loop in the string. One string heddle from each pile sits separated in the middle to show the difference.

Front heddle is threaded and my shoulder says that's plenty for today. #handdyed #weaving #fiberarts

Thank you! I'll definitely be sharing the progress and results. 😊

You're so welcome and I will be sure to! 😊

Thanks! I got it from the Organic Cotton Plus website. This is my first time using it but so far I'm quite pleased. A bit more lint left behind in the rinse pots than the cottolin I've dyed but not substantially so and it took the dye beautifully. We'll see how the finished cloth performs.

She's beamed! Threading the front heddle and tying on to the front will be a task for tomorrow if energy holds. 🤞 Yarn is a 55% hemp/ 45%organic cotton 8/2 that I hand dyed. Warp is 4.5 yards and I'm hoping to get 4 towels. #handdyed #weaving #fiberarts #slowcloth
An overhead view from the front of Kelli's Kromski Harp Forte rigid heddle loom in the process of having a warp wound onto the back beam. The warp is hanging over the front beam, tensioned by hand weights in a bin on the floor with the rest of the unbeamed warp that is just out of the frame. The warp is made of transitioning stripes of hand dyed yarn in speckle overdyed silver grey and handpainted gradient purple. The light purple portion of the gradient is currently in focus. Because of the stripes this time I secured my warp chains to the front support by a choke tie, draped the cross end over the heddle & threaded sitting at the back of the loom. I'll tie onto the back apron rod, beam the warp and then insert the front heddle and thread it before tying onto the front.
lladyllama.bsky.social
Oh interesting! I haven't done the modified F2B I'm doing here before but I need to split some of my warp chains into smaller stripes as I thread. I always do my threading in the heddle blocks though. I put the back heddle in the front blocks, thread it first & then move it back & thread the front.

A kitchen sink leak threw a wrench into things around here (ha) but today I finally started getting this warp on the loom. The back heddle is threaded and if I'm up for it tomorrow I will tie on to the back apron and beam the warp.
A closeup view of Kelli holding a warp cross in their right hand and preparing to begin the process of threading the silver grey and speckle dyed warp chain through a ten dent heddle on their Kromski Harp Forte rigid heddle loom. The back of the loom is facing Kelli and the camera. The bright yellow green handle of a threading hook is placed through the hole in the heddle where Kelli will begin threading from left to right. An angled view of the front if Kelli's Kromski Harp Forte rigid heddle loom. A series of hand dyed warp chains have been secured to the horizontal front support of the loom with ties and have also been wrapped around the support to keep the chains from dangling down too near the floor and sparking the curiousity of a certain tortie kitty. The ends of the warp chains have been threaded front to back in the first step of double heddle threading. The ends are secured with slip knots in one inch warp sections and flipped back over the top of the heddle.

New scarf in the shop! 🧣I'm so happy with how these peacock inspired gradient colors played together in the clasped weft with the black warp. 🦚 All handwoven with my hand dyed yarns on a rigid heddle loom.🧶🍃🍂🍁 More details a www.LladyLlama.com

I met this little woolly bear friend with a reminder that the cold weather is creeping closer. I have something woolly of my own coming to the shop soon that could help out with that! 🍃🍂🍁🧣👀 #handwoven #handdyed #weaving #slowcloth #scarfseason

Absolutely! I think it will be more ergonomic for me to wind from a vertically hung board as well. I prop my loom stand at the best angle I can when I'm winding but I'm definitely not doing my shoulder any favors because I'm reaching instead of being able to stand and move my whole body as I wind.

Nice! I love a 2-in-1 tool but I'm at the point now where one part of the process is being held up too often and I'm wasting brain energy and time.

Wove a bit on the Cricket while I was heating batches of rinse water today. Last 3 skeins of weft yarn for the Samhain themed towels are now rinsed and hanging to dry. #weaving
A fifteen inch Schacht Cricket rigid heddle loom sits on Kelli's desk. It has been warped in stripes of hand dyed six ply hemp yarn. The colors are a sandy gold, navy, a silvery driftwood grey and a medium blue. Weaving is in progress with the same yarns being used for the weft in color blocks. Short ends of weft stick out on the surface of the web from split joins. Two stick shuttles are laid across the warp. One is wound with the navy yarn and the other with the silvery driftwood grey.

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

Wound this wee striped warp yesterday for the Cricket. Yarn is a 6-ply hemp that I dyed a couple of years ago. Now the Kromski is flipped back over into loom mode so it's ready for the towel warp. Getting a stand alone warping board is one of my hopes for the year. #weaving

All of my hand dyed warp yarn has now been wound for the Samhain themed towels! Three of my weft skeins needed 2nd layers of dye which have been applied and they are now batching. The rest are rinsed and drying. Hoping to be on loom in the next couple of days! #weaving

This month is just packed. Trying to cram in some face time with my people before the weather turns too cold to meet outdoors. Important health appts. I also have big work goals this month. As always the spoon math is maddening. Got some weft yarns dyed today but feeling pretty wiped. #chroniclife

We always wear N95s in any indoor space outside of our home and wear them outdoors if more than a very small handful of people are gathered regardless of how recently we have had boosters.

Vaccine appointment tomorrow for Wife and I! I'm still in the throes of my latest bout of PEM & being born with an overactive immune system means I've always gotten what you might call a rather...robust immune response from vaccines anyway. Worth it ofc but the next coupla days are gonna suuuck.
