My first job was as an usher in that odeon. Shocked to see and hear the building still stands empty.
Renamed the Odeon in 1961, the building entertained Colchester audiences for decades before closing in 2002. Today, it stands empty but striking, its faded Art Deco frontage a reminder of Colchester's golden age of cinema.

This is like that quote in an article about the property market in London from an estate agent whose surname was Jackson-Stops.
Or consider being born to parents who can give you a role in the family firm?

Archaeology is often reduced to finds in the media. But for me the most important thing are the people I get to work with.
Here are some highlights from '25 starting with @uclarchaeology.bsky.social staff & students who worked with @butserancientfarm.co.uk to make #Archaeotech2025 happen. 🏺1/5

Kris became interested in #archaeology at 9yo during a school visit to St Albans/Verulamium in 1975. He joined the @welwynarchsoc.bsky.social later that year. In 2009 he became the society's Director.

🏺$1 million is not even pennies to Musk yet it's netted him valuable PR.
Taking money from any source with extremely problematic ethical approaches that include promoting scientific & historical misinformation should be something archaeological organisations avoid.

I of course welcome the recognition of the state of Palestine.

And there won't be a Palestinian state left if government's continue enabling Israel's unfolding genocide.

Labour can't credibly support Palestinian statehood whilst also continuing to arm Israel.
