Hydrologist, hiker, and desert dweller with an affinity for rocks. I spend my days looking for water in the place where slickrock rises to greet mixed conifer, and occassionally wander further.

Rivers of moqui marble mosaics, incredible summit views, and a few foot wide ridge bound by sheer cliffs that somehow allowed us easy passage.

I really try to keep an even keel, and self-regulate because it’s the only way to be in this for the long haul, but sometimes the fury overtakes you for a bit.

Iron marbles basking in the warm winter light on yesterday's walk. A day spent in conversation with canyons and stone, their swirls waves and stripes chatter in a foreign tongue I've become familiar with. I was gifted with pleasant company, both my partner and the prints of fellow residents.

Moments from my morning in the field. Mud lines remembering prior floods, soft rays of light illuminating raptor nests, and frigid water cascading over beaver complexes. How humbling it is to wake up with this canyon.

The fight over the Colorado River isn’t about drought. It’s about power.

For 5,000 years, controlling water has meant controlling people. Today it means deciding which states and cities get to survive.

When rivers become weapons, ecology always loses.

Always grateful to spend a day on slickrock. My partner and I explored an area that has caught our eye from multiple vantage points over the past few months. The sandstone textures we encountered were dreamy, and the stone stretched on for miles in all directions.

“Born from Pain”
Some days, there are no words, only grief, shock & a heaviness that sits in the body. Yesterday’s violence in Minneapolis has left many of us reeling. I’m holding space for that sorrow. This piece was created understanding that pain doesn’t disappear simply because we wish it away.
